Do tu prefer the original fairytale o disney version?

I just thought I'd put the pregunta out there. For my two cents, I would have to say that I prefer the original story. Mainly because I have a soft spot for Hans Christian Anderson but also because the ending is not so sickly sweet; the mermaid's actions do actually have real, severe and irreversible consequences which I appreciate. Not to mention the fact that the mermaid doesn't get her man which is a refreshing change. o maybe I'm just a dark soul who revels in unhappy endings :-)
