Well if tu knew him since tu were younger and tu really like him then chances are that it would be REAL amor b/c tu both have a deep connectiona dn understanding of each other so maybe tu just have to let him realize it for himself. But tu need to let him at least know how tu feel o how can tu ever know the truth of his feelings for you? If tu never say anything tu may be letting the chace of a lifetime slip through your fingers. Youll never know unless tu try. Its better to have loved and lost then to have never have loved at all!

I don't think tu should EVER give up on the one tu really like unless it's causing tu pain. tu being in pain can also hurt him and your friends if they sense it. And with heartbreak, everyone knows. :( I wish tu luck!
