Can sb tell me how does skype work??

My friend has one and i see her making calls from the pc to her friends abroad and not getting charged o sth..So How does this system work??Does it use the house number to make the calls??does it charge??

No charge. Except if tu want to call landlines o phones, then tu have to por skype credit. Te system works with just one computer connecting to another and webcams and michrophones. No, it doesn't use house numbers. It uses the internet to get connected.
