This chapter's a little bloody. Just warning tu if tu don't like that kind of thing.
“Who’s there?” Skipper yelled, trying to climb out of the hole.
Hans grabbed his wrist and pulled him up. Skipper twisted away from his grasp. “Who’s there?” he yelled again.
A man with almost silvery hair and light brown eyes burst out of the brush.
“Julien?” Skipper asked. “What are tu doing here?”
“That guy with the blue thingy on his eye is mad at me for being a super-spy!” Julien exclaimed. He pointed behind him. “And now somebody is chasing me!”
At that moment, a woman carrying an ax lunged out of the underbrush and charged towards Julien. She lifted the ax and swung.
Skipper watched as the ax made contact with Julien’s neck. There was a horrible crunching sound as his head disconnected from his body. A spurt of blood poured out of his neck.
The woman turned towards Skipper and Hans, her eyes wild. Skipper yelled and ran into the trees.
Doris stood over Kowalski. A flicker of recognition registered on her face, then it was gone.
“Doris,” Kowalski said. “Why are tu here?”
“I’m his enemy, same as everyone else,” Doris said, then shrugged. “Though why he would send his own sister to die, I don’t know.”
Kowalski sat up, surprised. “You’re his sister?”
“Got a problem with it?” Doris asked, cocked her head and placing one hand on her hip.
Kowalski blushed. “No, of course not,” he murmured.
“Good,” Doris said. She reached out a hand to help Kowalski up.
Kowalski took her hand, then blushed again and released it, struggling to his feet on his own.
Someone grabbed Kowalski’s arm. Kowalski turned towards them.
Skipper was standing there, panting heavily.
“Skipper!” Kowalski exclaimed. “Are tu okay?”
“We have to run,” Skipper said.
“What? Why?” Kowalski asked.
“We have to run!” Skipper repeated, más urgently this time.
An ax whizzed out of the woods and buried itself in Rico’s leg. Rico fell to the ground, gasping in pain.
“Rico!” Private cried, rushing to his friend’s side. He looked like he was in más pain than Rico did.
A woman burst out of the woods. Her eyes glinted when she saw the ax, and she started towards it.
“That’s the woman who threw the ax,” Skipper said.
Kowalski felt his face grow hot in fury. This was the woman who had hurt Rico so badly? Without thinking, he wrenched the ax out of Rico leg and swung it as hard as he could into the woman’s skull.
