Mesereau said, “He [Jackson] was a very kind-hearted, gentle, sensitive, intuitive artist who truly believed he could heal the world in some positive way. He attracted one profiteer after another. There was loneliness, isolation, distrust. The cruellest thing of all was taking children and turning children against him.”

The attorney also criticised the media's failure to reportar the facts during the trial, opting instead to focus on the sensationalism. “Mountains were made out of molehills," Mesereau said. "The case was characterised por crisis, shock and confusion.”
