I really like mute ones because they're a little more expressive like Pascal and Maximus. Heck carpet didn't even have a face and you could still understand what it was thinking or feeling

I also really like talking ones because I'm a sucker for talking animals just as long as they aren't there to say useless one-liners

For animals from movies I mostly prefer them to not speak. Though some like Mushu and Cinderella's mices are not that bad.

Usually these, but I like Maximus too.

It's not really hard to chose, it just depends on the movie. Ie for Ariel it makes perfectly sense to be able to talk with the animals, but for most of the other princesses, it doesn't. That Cinderella does it is actually very weird.

the talking ones are annoying at best; the worst (mushu!!) make their movies borderline unwatchable
talking animals in general weird me out, you don't need dialogue to be funny or incisive anyway. i think that's why i love dreamworks' spirit so much.
