Maybe, but they'd have to work it in really well so it wasn't directly part of the story, just the character, otherwise it'll be sugarcoated.

I agree with Jessikaroo...And I wonder what level of Autism they would be comfortable putting the character at and if the Princess would be shown taking Medication for it....I just don't think they need a Princess for every disorder or typ out there....ANd they should have a full figured (not obese) Princess before they have one with Autism...or even one with Glasses or that is deaf or totally blind....but whatever...(or a sidekick or better yet a Prince who has one of those things)

Well in principle I can somehow agree with those "why not"-persons since if story would be good and it wouldn't too main thing it would be very fine with me. But I don't get why disney should make that, so sorry, I don't agree.

There is a huge awareness of autism nowadays, so why not? @SweetPea2007, I don't think every person with autism takes medication. I've got Aspergers Syndrome, A kind of autism, and I don't need medications. Since aspergers is the lowest form of autism, I am able to speak, hold plenty of information, and I graduated from High school last year, which is hard for anyonbe with autism

Tigressfan10689 I have a child in the Afterschool Program I teach with Aspergers Syndrome...he is a sweet kid and the only issue I have with him is his sudden outbursts, loudness, and hyperness....but he is very smart and with enough attention and focus I know he will go far....and that is why I said IF she would need medicine (I know some Autisum variations Need meds but others can function without)....

I'll be the second to quote SweetPea2007, "I just don't think they need a Princess for every disorder or typ out there". If you make one with Autism, a bunch of people will be like hassling them to make an overweight Princess and other disorders. Disney knows what they're doing. They don't need all this controversey and people telling them how to make their characters look.

I'm living together with someone who is nearly deaf and might be totally deaf at one point. That doesn't mean I want to see a Disney Fairy Tale Movie about deafness. I want to see Disney Fairy Tale Movies to escape reality, not to be reminded of my problems and I certainly don't want to see Disney using a serious issue for some cheap emotions with an unrealistic solution.

That doesn't mean that I don't think that an animated movie can't adress serious issues, if it is about telling a story and not about being able to say "hey, we make movies about this minority, too!". But this wouldn't work in the concept which is specifically the "Disney Princess Movies". Those movies are connected to certain expectations, an I wish that people would finally get over it that those expectations don't include tackling every wrong in the world. If I want to see a social drama, I watch a social Drama, not a Disney Princess Movie.

They don't want to remember that. Plus if you want to raise awareness, then don't rely on animators who work their butts off. It's really unnecessary.

It would be very difficult to handle tactfully in a fairy-tale type of story.

I have autism so I'd really like there to be a DP with autism. If not a DP then a Disney character in general. It would be nice to have an autistic character from something children watch so that they can learn about it at an early age and then maybe the percentage of bullying will decrease (keeping fingers crossed)

Everybody who is saying no is saying no obviously don't know someone personally who has autism. People claiming they need to make other disorders like deaf or before they do this does not think that they can do both. I believe they can make the storline really good about her trying to fit in anbeing herself because many are bullyed.
