I have been adamant about my dislike for Twilight ever since I finished lectura the book a few years ago. Originally, I had picked it up finding the cover to be very interesting, but after lectura it I felt utterly deceived for I found the book to be very dull and lifeless. Today though, I went to see the much anticipated film and found myself segundo guessing why my dislike for the series was so strong. This film has made me decide to reread the novel and give it a segundo chance. So without further ado, I present to tu my non-fangirly, serious review of the Twilight film.

Pros

First off, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised por how good Robert Pattinson was at playing Edward Cullen. He played him with such admiration that it amazed me that Pattinson had originally broken out onto the film scene as shy, Hufflepuff pretty boy Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He made such a transformation in playing this strong, handsome vampire who would do anything for Bella, the amor of his life. I must say, much praise to Robert Pattinson for truly proving what an awesome actor tu are!

Secondly, there were some wonderfully witty lines and excellent scenes. I absolutely loved when Edward and Bella first arrive at the school after they decide to become a couple and everyone is looking at them. Edward's line, "May as well, I'm going to hell anyways" o something like that was awesome. I just remember cracking up pretty hard at that. Also I found the baseball scene to be very well done. The thunder and lightning and the tension after the non-vegetarian vampiros showed up, just perfect. Finally, absolutely loved the scene where Bella introduces her father to Edward. Just him cocking the rifle was great, completely reminded me of my own father.

Also, the scene where Bella is introduced to the Cullen family for the first time was absolutely cute. From Rosalie breaking the ensalada bowl in frustration to Alice's very adorable hug was just icing on the cake. The perfect dysfunctional vampire family.

My finally good thing about this was just how the film kept moving. There really wasn't a dull moment in it to where I was thinking, "Can this please just get on with it?" Quite an enjoyable early afternoon film.

Cons

First off, I don't think Kristen Stewart did the character of Bella very well. She seemed too monotoned and rarely showed much emotion. The only time I felt that she really showed emotion was during the entire fight scene at the ballet studio. Other than that, a very forgettable performance. I feel that Emily Browning of Series of Unfortunate Events fame could have dado a much stronger performance.

Furthermore, the soundtrack ultimately annoyed me. Parts where there shouldn't have been música had crazy rock música blaring. It was sometimes difficult to concentrate on what the characters were saying o feeling with insane-o rock música blaring at tu from all sides of the theater. The only pieces I liked were the instrumental theme, I believe called "Bella's Lullaby" that recurred throughout the film, very haunting and moving. Also, whatever song was playing during the baseball scene was very good as well. If anyone knows the título of that song and where I can get it without buying the entire soundtrack, tu let me know.
Update: Thanks to fanpop users mandapanda and katlyncore I now know that the song was called "Supermassive Black Hole" por muse and have purchased it off iTunes. Thanks again!

The friends at the high school. Could they be anymore annoying o unrealistic? The guys always vying for Bella's attention, and then getting disappointed when she suggested they go out with her two friends instead, who actually wanted to be with them. Yea, quite frustrating. Hello, Bella is not the only girl in the school. The film probably could have done with much less of them.

Finally, the most frustrating thing I found in this film was the scene where Bella is very mean to her father and yells at him and practically breaks his corazón just so she can leave without him asking questions. I know that she did this to protect him, but the way she did it was just so cruel and almost heartless that I felt absolutely terrible for her father. Furthermore, she seriously chose Edward over her own father?! Okay, I don't know if this scene actually was in the book o not, but if I had to choose between the amor of my life o my own father, I would choose my father anyday because regardless of almost anything your family is always there for you. Considering that Bella and her father did not really have a super major fallout that I know of, I think she was absolutely wrong in saying those things to him and leaving him feel betrayed and probably feeling like he had lost his only daughter forever. This scene made me lose all respect for Bella as a character for doing that to her father and for actually listening to Edward to keep doing it and that she had to break his corazón in order to keep him safe. I even lost respect for Edward. Seriously...

Final en general, general Judgement

This movie wasn't as horrible as I was expecting it to be, but it wasn't as great as I'm sure many of the Twilight fans were hoping it to be. There were some excellent scenes in this film, but nothing that really made me completely reconsider why I disliked Twilight in the first place. I still find the plot to be somewhat shallow and the characters somewhat superficial. I have however decided to reread the book and give it a second, final shot. Maybe rereading it will bring something new to my eyes that I did not see before. Please realize that this is not meant to bash Twilight in any way. I have simply dado a review from a radically different point of view, and I welcome respectful responses from both enamorados and haters of the series.

Although Pattinson gave a great performance as Edward Cullen, he will always remain in my mind as shy Hufflepuff pretty boy, Cedric Diggory.

One major con: Bella's friends at the high school seemed very superficial and were very annoying throughout. Less of them would have been appreciated, much less.

A major pro: The baseball scene. From the thunder adding awesome effects to the game to the tension when the non-vegetarian vampiros arrived made this scene pretty freaking awesome.
