In the biology scene...what the hell is a fan doing there?

Up there in Washington, it might have been humid with all of the rain o something. The plot line calls for a fan though, because that's how Edward smells Bella.

I think it was an exaggeration of Edward smelling Bella since they need to make the point very clear to people who havn't read the books.
