To be honest, It's almost navidad and I haven't done anything for that Holiday. Just because I'm working on a new review series that wouldn't be finished until after New years. There's obviously something wrong with that. So, out of guilt I'm giving tu my review on "Snowdrop".Ah, yes the infamous and Famous "Snowdrop" from "SillyFillyStudios". This piece of fan made episode left a big impact on más then just 400 of us.
Why's that exactly well, for that we have to look into the main character herself Snowdrop. She's pretty likable. She has a personality, development and a lot, a lot of sympathy, While having nothing to empathize. Well, Let's think of her más as a role model then a character that tu are supposed to relate to.Think about it she conquered her self doubt and got over exactly what she thought held her back. That's something to admire about her character and a big development for her too. Mostly because her personality is fueled por her insecurity because of her disability(blind). This is actually a big risk too since characters with disabilities o are disorder are a lot más complex then most characters. por that I don't mean in a 4D way I meant por the meaning they are a lot más harder to understand o to write for then most characters. Not only is this a big risk but, this is actually pretty unique too! Not a lot of writers go for this subject. In fact I haven't even seen disney take such a big risk. The closest they gotten is with Elsa when they made her suffer and develop through her pain of her ice powers. Even through it isn't exactly a risk as far as I am concerned it's the closet they have gotten to doing any thing like that. So in this a regard let's give them credit either tu think they did it right o not. It wasn't like they made her character mean-spirited in any way either. So, her character shouldn't be too offensive to most people. The only real problem people seem to have with her character is her lack of personality and a over dose of sympathy. Which I can defiantly see why people would have a problem with that. It makes her seem más of a device for sympathy and less as a character. She does have some personality through. She's mostrando a lot of insecurity, she often has trouble accepting herself and she also often has confidence. Always listening to people and takes in what negative things they say about her. She's also a Coward, She never seems to know when o where to stand up for herself. She never actually changed and develop through her coward nature until the end when she grew the opposite trait Bravery.Shy is another trait of hers, She never speaks her mind o is Valiente enough to stand up for herself. tu can see she is almost trying to be a background poni, pony instead of getting all of the attention. She is also very nervous when attention is dado to her like for example the scene when the teacher goes and talks to her. She instantly gets nervous because of all of the attention she's getting from the whole class. Most of her traits have a similar meaning. Here's some más traits on parte superior, arriba of my head diffident, unconfined, meek and humble.the saddest part about this is that she's so close on being full of personality of it weren't for that más then half of her traits almost has the exact same meanings. She has enough traits, her traits also connect together perfectly and her development connects to her personality. So yeah, so close but, not exactly there yet. en general, general I think she's actually a pretty good character.
As for the story and the moral. It was um......It was....Know what I'm not sure how I feel about it. Let's just go over the problems first the story tries it's hardest to make tu feel sympathy towards Snowdrop in ONE of the cheapest ways. Even through I'll still call it a risk making a character blind and still try to mange the work it takes to understand this character. The problem is that más then half of the episode she either cries o the world just beats her up. Just to cause sympathy for us, and their "Risk" helps to build up más sympathy for her. The funny part is I can't stand sympathy unless the other side is shown to create empathy for that character.Helga had the same problem with her character. The world tries to draw sympathy for her, without telling us the other side. Making it one sided. I don't care if both stories handle a unique and complex concept for a kids cartoon. It puts to shame por ruining the sympathy into hatred of the other characters. Personally I think how they both did it was a big plot to get our sympathy on those characters that we are supposed to feel sympathy towards. That instead leaves us with lazy escritura and add very little to the character instead of force Sympathy and development to say "Hey these two might seem like a 1D characters but the truth is that it's the other characters fault". I'm sorry but, that doesn't make them complex in the slightest, tu either
A. justify their actions por blaming someone else and make them 1D,along making the explanation quiet poor. When all we know She/He could be the villain here o wait, we need sympathy for this character so of course that isn't the case.
o
B.Make the character nothing but,sympathy.
o
C.Make the character we supposed to have sympathy being más antagonistic then the person we are supposed to hate.
I don't get why this supposed to make them complex? Cause to be honest the only thing it's doing is making me más and más upset about how lazily written this is but, to be fair Helga story was better since in a way did make her más then just sympathy it was also played a lot más settle then Snowdrop's too. Even with that being dicho I am still not a big fan of this kind of sympathy but, I won't call it enough to break a episode.Another problem is most characters of the characters are just bullies who just there to make más sympathy around Snowdrop. Actually when I think about it most of the episodes problems can just be fixed por fixing the root of the problem the force Sympathy with Snowdrop's character. Besides that there isn't much problems with it. The episode is animación is pretty solid, As cheap as moving us was it still worked, the concept was complex and interesting, and even if it didn't seem like it they did take risks. Plus the moral was really unique in it's own sense. So en general, general I think I really liked "Snowdrop".
