Princess Kate is opening up about her little girl Charlotte Elizabeth Diana – and how she’s carrying on the most loving traditions of William’s mom.

She may be following in her late mother-in-law Princess Diana\'s footsteps in many respects, but Princess Kate differs from Prince William\'s mom in some notable ways as well.

They may both wear Catherine Walker – Diana chose that designer ahead of any other – but there is a difference in emphasis.

Diana "understood the power and the message that could be got across in clothes," says her wedding dress designer, Elizabeth Emanuel. "Kate has her own sense of style. Wearing a designer thing doesn\'t mean as much to her. You can often find hers in the shops.

"She doesn\'t have the same level of attention that Diana had that everybody was waiting to see what she was going to be wearing," Emanuel continues. "I don\'t think it is that way with Kate."

While Queen Elizabeth had a more distant relationship with her daughter-in-law Diana, Kate has revealed that she gave homemade chutney to the Queen for a Christmas present, and opened up about the monarch\'s "gentle guidance." As Kate says in

, airing on ITV on Sunday, "She took the time to make sure that I was happy."

"Diana always wanted to do that but it was never reciprocated. Many assume that the relationship between William and Kate is one of reciprocation."

When William and Kate visit the Taj Mahal in India next month, they will do so "much happier" than Diana in 1992, Wharfe adds.
