Johnny's accent in Alice In Wonderland?

I was a bit freaked out and tried not to laugh when I heard The Mad Hatter speak for the 1st time. Did he change his accent o sth? Sound so not like him, but strangely adorable...

it must be kinda hard to speak not with your real accent. i can't, but Johnny did it thoughout

it think he had to learn a scottish accent for the movie. its amazing how he can change his voice just like that:)
