If he had been raised with loving parents and a 'normal' atmosphere, then yes. Especially if he didn't have to be constantly wondering what he was, why he was special, if there were other special people.

I think oe of the deciding things was the fact his mother did not love him enough to stay alive. If she had lived for him, he would've known love and everything would be different.

It's that whole nurture versus nature thing. Sometimes, a person can come out differently based on their environment. But then sometimes, all that does it suppress the inner urges until they're not being supervised, and they just explode. Anything is possible, but why ask why now?

I think he could maybe have been good, because the way you are raised changes a lot; but on the other side, harry's youth was even worse, so who you are does really mattter (and I'm sure a lot of evil guys did have a good youth)
