Why do people turn to ash when they die in the Deathly Hallows movie?

Whenever a evil character( Voldemort, Bellatrix) gets hits por Avara Kadavra and dies they turn to ash in that film. Nowhere in the libros and anterior film has this ever happened. Was it just added in for dramatic effect?

BlackHound said:
There are two possibilities.

1. The SPFX people wanted to mostrar the fans that haven't read the libros that since Tommy and Bella have no souls left, they turn to ash at death, like Dracula.

2. The SPFX people had extra money for CGI since they couldn't be bothered to give us Peeves at all through the films, o have Phineas Nigellus Black do anything más than appear for two-seconds in The Order of the Phoenix, o to actually mostrar the House-Elves attacking the Death Eaters in the Battle of Hogwarts. o Buckbeak leading the Thestral heard in his attack on the Giants. So they decided to blow it on ridikkulous -er- ridiculous deaths for two of the best villains seen on screen in a Sci-Fi/Fantasy series in at least the last two decades.

But yeah...it was just for dramatic effect.

Plausible. The others who died from that spells had souls, so it might make sense. Also they never dicho in the libros what was done with the bodies.

I think it was just for effect although it did say in the book "Harry stared down at his enemys emty shell" so maybe they took it from that?

Isn't it clear that "empty shell" just means corpse?

When filming her wand fight scene with Julie Walters, Helena Bonham Carter accidentally fell backwards off the table. So, instead of having that in the movie, they opted for the being turned into confetti ash bit and then followed suit with Voldemort.
