Helena-B-Carter thx. You know, the first website that I checked has good reasons of why that one particular person likes twilight. I accept it. But what I don't like is fans just saying, 'because I said so' and things, harry potter or twilight fans. I like reading persuasive reasons. But the thing is, although I'm reading them, I still really don't like twilight. In my opinion, it's got a bit too much romance.

Once you figure out JKR's style from the very first book, you know that the characters that whenever Harry assumes someone is evil before even meeting them, they aren't, or at least not nearly as evil as he thinks. (Harry never assumed Voldemort was evil, every single person instilled that into his head). [i]how many of you knew Bella Swan would choose Edward instead of Jacob?[/i] Not me, but that wasn't meant to be a matter of suspense. Bella never showed any signs of choosing Jacob over Edward. She only entertained the possibility when Edward was nowhere around. Once Edward was back, she made it clear she was sticking with him. Jacob's the one who wasn't confident. I'll tell you the unpredictable aspects of Twilight. How many of you were surprised by Jacob imprinting on Renesmee? How many people gasped or even dropped their book out of shock? How many people knew Bella was going to get pregnant by Edward and give birth to a have vampire baby? Probably not many, considering how many people like to say "Omg, that's not even possible!!!" I'm going to ignore all plot comparison point because I think reading would be a very dull thing if all plots had similar styling. Some plots are supposed to be more "complex" or longer than others. Besides, overly complex plots are very off putting for me. [i] She is emotionally weak, male-dependent, selfish[/i] (Notice how I'm about to give actual examples of traits, while you just listed traits, then moved on.) I say she's very emotionally strong. She has very intense emotions. While it's true that she sometimes breaks down into tears and even faints at times, she always manages to come around and deal with what she needs to deal with. She's very independent. She's self sufficient. She pretty much ran the household when she lived with Charlie. She did the cooking, cleaning, shopping, laundry. She did a lot. She only depended on *males* for companionship, which is not a strange thing for a heterosexual girl to do at all. She depended on supernatural beings (both male and female) for strength and protection. She's also selfless. She's always putting other people before herself. She probably does it so often to where it's a fault. again with her parents. She took care of both Rene and Charlie in both households. They supported her financially, but she supported them in so many other ways. She didn't want to leave Charlie, even after she became a vampire. She's always offering to sacrifice herself and put herself in danger just to help out and provide a better chance at being safe. The newborn battle, for example. As soon as Jasper suggested that Bella could be used as bait, she was all for it. She of course had her selfish moments, but who doesn't? That doesn't take away from all her selfless acts. Are we really saying that Bella is more popular than Harry? Bella has like 6 friends who aren't vampires or shifters. Harry probably has like 300 friends at school. Harry is pretty much a celebrity, simply because he was alive. Was there anyone in the wizarding world who didn't know who Harry Potter was? [i]She kept saying how Carlisle was compassionate but she never truly showed us, using his actions, how exactly he was compassionate, leaving us unable to imagine his compassion.[/i] Carlisle was constantly opposed or weary to killing vampires, even the evil ones. He was hesitant to kill James. He was the reason behind Bree Tanner wasn't killed immediately. He was the reason behind the treaty, he didn't want any fights with the shifters. He left the Volturi because he's compassionate, he didn't agree with their disregard to human and vampire lives. The entire reason the Cullen's drink animal blood is because Carlisle's too compassionate to take human lives. He became a doctor because he's compassionate. He wanted to use hos powers to help humans rather than kill them. He only changed people who were on the verge of death because he didn't want to steal anyone's human life away. Aro was not "very friendly" Are would pile dead and bloody human bodies around Carlisle just to tempt him. He killed his little sister because she was getting romantically involved with Marcus and it would have made him lose focus. Aro doesn't let Edward, Alice, and Bella leave in New moon because he's a nice guy. He lets them leave because he eventually wants Edward and Alice to join him and he's interested in what becomes of Vampire Bella. It was suggested that Aro took his time sending someone over to deal with the newborns in Seattle because he was hoping the newborns would kill a few of the Cullens off, decreasing their power (because their size is threatening to the Volturi). In Breaking Dawn, Aro tried to force Edward, Alice, and Bella into joining him by threatening them with death. Aro tried to avoid a battle in Breaking Dawn, not because he's a nice guy who's opposed to violence, but because he doesn't want to risk losing vampires who are useful to him. The whole reasons vampires are legends and not commonly known creatures was all Aro's doing. He convinced vampires that they need to live in the shadows just so he could have a secret world to overpower. [i] it only made Aro look like he has mental problems[/i] It's supposed to be that way. Stephenie said "After three thousand years, you start to go nuts. That is what was intended for Aro in the book, and I hope it's in the movie." I still support the idea that the only reason Snape and Lily's story was so touching was because Lily died. If Lily had never died, Snape would have just been a creepy guy who can't get over it. I really don't think Snape's love was realistic. Many like to argue that Bella was too young to fall in love with Edward, and for her love to be taken seriously, but Snape fell in love with Lily somewhere around the age of 10. That doesn't happen very often. Plus, Snape joined the pure-blood cult, knowing very well that Lily wasn't a pure blood. She became his only exception. This story has the makings of a magical, super-romantic chick flick, and we know romantic chick flicks are not realistic. I don't think either romance is realistic at all, but they don't have to be. They're fiction. Yes, I was touched by Snape and Lily's story (It was really the only thing in the series that touched me emotionally), but I was also touched by Edward and Bella's story. How exactly do you know how many people shed tears while reading Twilight? You don't. I don't really understand why you're acting like you do.

Helena-B-Carter In Severus and Lily's story, there were sad parts, allowing us to shed tears. In twilight, there wasn't a sad part (unless you include bella almost dying), therefore, we were uncapable of shedding tears. Have you forgotten the part when Bella dragged Edward with her in Eclipse? She wanted him with her just in case he died, justifying herself by saying the other Cullens wouldn't die. Is that the act of an unselfish woman?

I, for one (not we), felt sad after the baseball scene and they had to separate, when Bella was preparing Jacob to run away with Renesmee because she feared she was going to die, when Edward left Bella, After Jacob was injured in Eclipse and Bella was talking to him, when Bella kisses Jacob and she gets a glimpse of what could be, the tent scene in Eclipse when we got to see Edward's vulnerability, when Edward was begging Jacob to talk to Bella, and so on.

ariba_c I agree that maybe some people like you, Cassie, did cry but all in all I found HP to have more emotional parts. I didnt cry at all during the Twilight movies and trust me I get emotional easily. If I dont cry in a movie then my friends know its not an emotional movie! LOL:)
