This articulo attempts to distinguish what sorts of preguntas should be publicado with the different "question" features on Fanpop, and was last edited on 31 March 2009.
Now that fanpop has added another "Ooh! Ooh! I get to ask a question!" feature, the pregunta "What is the difference between all these features?" is even más appropriate than ever before. One can ask a pregunta in a Forum, in a Quiz, in a Pick, o in an Answer (Request). Which one should be used for a dado question?
In summary
To be brief:
* A club's Forum is the best place to ask a pregunta that has a single correct answer which tu don't know, such as "Who created this spot?"
* A Pick is for preguntas that do not have an objectively correct answer: respuestas based on opinions o feelings. "Who should win this contest?" o "Which of these do tu like best?" are perfect examples of preguntas for a pick.
* A Quiz is for preguntas that have a single correct answer which tu do know, such as "Who is the person in this picture I've provided?"
* An Answer Request is for a pregunta that has multiple correct answers, o a single answer sufficiently involved that it can be provided in multiple different ways. "How does one bake snickerdoodles?" is an example of a good request for Answers.
Answers
The respuestas feature is a knowledgebase. It is a mechanism for users to share their wisdom with one another on different processes. dado that there can be multiple correct respuestas to any particular pregunta - supported por the fact that users vote for the best correct answer - the expectation is that respuestas may be varied, of some length, and reflect different approaches to the question. They are particularly well-suited towards process questions, therefore, and NOT AT ALL suited to preguntas that have a single, one-word correct answer. Thus, good Answer Requests often start with the pregunta words "How" o "Why" rather than "Who" "What" "When" "Where" o "Which". For instance, "How do tu identify the species of a particular tree?" is a good Answer Request - there are many different but equally correct respuestas to such a question, while "Who wrote that book about intelligent dolphins joining humans in the galactic community of space-faring races?" is a lame Answer Request, as there is only one answer: David Brin. If there's only one correct answer, and that answer will not vary among the users who answer that question, there's no point in having multiple people attempt to answer the question, nor any point in voting for the best answer.
Picks
Picks are a way of gauging the opinions of the users, rather than their knowledge. Pretty much any opinion-based pregunta is appropriate as a pick, and not appropriate as an Answer Request o examen question. Picks usually incorporate any of the pregunta words with words that require a value judgment, such as "feel", "prefer", "want", "choose", "like", "best", et cetera. "Who is your favorito! Friend?" is a great pick pregunta (which may be why we've seen it so many times).
Quizzes
cuestionarios are a way of testing how carefully users pay attention to the information available on Fanpop. One asks a pregunta which answer is readily available via a link, video, foros post o other content on o linked from Fanpop. The respuestas should be facts o statements made on the site, rather than feelings, and preguntas whose respuestas cannot be discovered on the site are inappropriate. examen preguntas should always be answerable por users who are paying attention in that particular club. preguntas such as "Who was the first user to post 500 imágenes on the site?" and "What was my childhood nickname?" are completely bogus examen preguntas unless that information has been publicado somewhere in that club in a forum, link, video, article, o even another examen question, which could be read por anyone in that club. Thus, fanpop chat is not a good fuente for examen preguntas (as it would require that the user be participating at a set time in order to know the answer to a question).
Fora
The foros for a dado club is a place to discuss and convey information about the club's topic. As such, any type of pregunta may be asked here. But since there are specific features to ask trivia questions, opinions and process questions, those would be better asked as part of Quizzes, Picks and Answers, respectively. I say this in particular because there is no way to buscar the foros in a club faster than scrolling through every page of comments, so specific preguntas and their respuestas get quickly and easily lost. Not only is that inconvenient, but it also results in many, many repetitions of the same preguntas being asked over and over again. Don't do it! Always buscar to see if someone else publicado a similar pregunta before you, and if they have, don't duplicate it. If no one has asked the same (or a sufficiently similar) question, go ahead, knock yourself out and post your question. Doubtless there will be many users delighted to get a non-repeat pregunta to answer, and tu may even get apoyar for it.
Still, it is better to ask preguntas with short, one- o two-word respuestas in the foros than elsewhere. While the fora aren't searchable, Answer Requests aren't searchable, either, and so a club's foros has a marked advantage for preguntas where there can o will be little variety in the short answer: they can be found más easily than in a similarly long lista of Answer Requests (because más foros threads are listed on a page), and such preguntas don't then clutter up the lista of Answer Requests (thus making it más likely that people searching for an answer to a particular pregunta will find it).
A final note on the forum: while specific, single-answer preguntas such as "How big is the banner for a club?" are best asked in a club's forum, chances are very high that someone has asked that pregunta before you...many times. While it is true that tu can't buscar for foros posts o threads, tu can do two quick things before posting such a question:
1) Check the first page of foros threads to see if any of the threads are likely to address your question. For our example, the "General Questions" thread in the fanpop club is almost certain to have answered that pregunta already.
2) Though fora can't be accessed through the buscar feature at present, after nearly three years of fanpop there's a clear pattern: if enough people ask the same freakin' preguntas over and over again, someone will get fed up enough to write an articulo explaining the answer, in the vain hope of cutting off any further repeats of the same question. Thus, if tu have a pregunta that has a short and/or single answer, search for articles that may already answer your question.

Edited because the label opinion was ignored por at least one user, and to make the distinction between short and verbose single-correct-answer Answer Requests.

This topic may already exist as a soapbox but I have to say that things on certain spots seem to being rated one estrella CONSTANTLY. People have complained in foros on más than one occasion, no fan would rate something one estrella if they liked the subject the spot was dedicated to, has anyone else noticed this on any spots?
It happens on the One árbol colina spot, and others related to it, I'm sure that someone else is really annoyed about this!! It is really childish! Sometimes it is pages of content all rated one estrella and somehow I feel convincedthat it is NOT a coincidence!!!
Can tu please comment!
