If ahead of her time means: she acts like modern girl rather than what woman actually acted like in their movies time period

Then YES pretty much all of them minus the first three princesses...if we'r talking irl then alot of these princesses would have been beaten or killed for acting independent and sassy and against their society's rules...face it, woman only started having a say in anything in just the last few hundred years, forget the Middle Ages and kings and queen days..I'm talking game of thrones time (minus the magic and dragons)

^ Belle too. She lived in a time that frowned upon women reading and thinking. she broke those barriers, and was therefore thinking ahead.

I don't think that's what they mean. the other people asks if you think any are BEHIND their times, and how much further behind your time can a bunch of medieval/Renaissance girls be? I think they mean in general. but if I'm wrong, Lupin is entirely correct- it drives me crazy with how anachronistic most of them are! Jasmine would never act that way, she'd probably have been locked up in her room at best, had a hand chopped off at worst for her outbursts. Merida too, she'd never have gotten away with humiliating her suitors and no way would they all just merrily leave her kingdom in the end- she'd still be forced to marry one of them and likely not have a choice in whom. Don't even get me started on Tiana.

In general though, I think Mulan was a bit ahead of her time. she'd be nothing special now with tons of girls just like her today, but in the 90s I don't think people appreciated the kind of heroine she was because it was before feminism and the age of political correctness exploded where warrior girls/tomboys/etc. are 100% the norm now.

Cinderella or Snow too. In a way, both are quintessential 50s and 30s girls- Cinderella is ladylike, quiet, and poised. Snow is sweet, optimistic and innocent. But Snow is very assertive and proactive for her era and Cinderella too was more proactive than people think. she didn't depend on anyone unless she truly needed to and she was quite competent at whatever she set her mind to doing. (but then I don';t think the 50s woman image is as bad as people say- 50s ladies were smart and deserve more credit. in fact, I think women of all eras do for the stuff they did but get dismissed for).
