KataraLover picked Anna and Elsa:
Both kind of annoy me. I hate how Anna says that you can marry a man you just met if it's true love. But everything else was fine. But with Merida and Elinor, Merida is WAY too bratty in that scene. She calls her mother a beast, ruins something her mother worked hard on, and tells her she'd rather die than be like her. This was one of the reasons I disliked her when I first saw the movie. I ADORE her now but it still really bugs me.

While I hate what Merida does and how she acts, it's really good juxtaposition to changed character we see at the end of the film.

Tygers_Eye picked Merida and Elinor:
I feel it's more emotionally charged, and it has more at stake. Merida just humiliated her mother, the lords, and her suitors in her attempt to avoid marriage. Elinor is about to force her to make amends and get married whether she likes it or not. Years of building pride, stubbornness, and frustration finally comes spilling out when Merida tells her mom she'd rather die than be like her, and rips her prized tapestry. Elinor, in turn, burns Merida's prized bow.

Tensions are high, feelings are hurt, personal belongings are destroyed, and an entire country is at stake.

Frozen... lacked that tension, drama, and stakes. Elsa shut Anna out, which she'd been doing her whole life so that was nothing new. She ordered the gates to be closed, which Anna knew would happen from the beginning. Anna's upset about her situation, but as Elsa says, she can leave. And, in fact, Elsa's reason for shutting Anna out are pretty flimsy and paper-thin at best. As the CinemaSins says: "Is this movie doing the whole 'simple misunderstanding that real people would never have because they ask questions and have normal human conversations about it' thing??!!"

I don't like either scene.

In Anna and Elsa, I disliked how Anna says you can marry someone on the day you met, if it's true love. But what really got me mad was that Elsa doesn't TRY to explain to Anna why she can't marry Hans yet. (The "What do you know about love?" line doesn't work). Yes, Tygers_Eye, as much as I enjoyed Frozen, I'm afraid it's "the whole 'simple misunderstanding that real people would never have because they ask questions and have normal human conversations about it' thing".

Elinor and Merida was no better because Merida really was acting way too bratty in that scene. Her mother was no better either because of she tossed Merida into the room as if she were a rag doll and burned her bow.
