Fairytale summaries graciously provided by PociandSmith:

link (here there are 10 tales, but only 6 are about Disney Princesses) Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Sleeping Beauty

The results for this poll will be based on comments, not the poll itself!

In the original, the queen tricked her three times and the prince didn't kiss her, he just thought that she was pretty and so he had her taken to his palace in a glass case and on the way she was dropped and the apple came loose.

Again, she gets raped and has two kids, and her prince's mother wants to eat them. I mean, seriously??

Again- not in the version Disney based it on. That's the version you must judge it against. Should I have voted for Cinderella because the original Chinese version of the story is entirely different? No, because that was not the one Disney based it off of. The fact that it was around first has nothing to do with it.

Excuse me rythmicmagic, but this is my countdown and the point of it was to compare the DP movies to the original versions of the fairytales, not the ones they are directly based off of. I would thank you not to try and change the rules to my countdown.

Also, have you ever read Perrault's version of the tale? Because I have, and in that version the mother does want to eat the children. She's also an ogre. And she's eaten by snakes in the end. Only the first half of the story has anything to do with Disney's version. If you would like to read it, here's the link: link

This is precisely the reason why I was wary about doing this countdown. I knew people would have issues with exactly which versions of the fairytales we compared the movies to, and that's why I provided the fairytale summaries. Because there are SO MANY different versions of all these fairytales out there, it's difficult to say one movie is more accurate than another. What I imagined was that everyone would read the summaries I provided and base their picks off of that. However, that is obviously not happening. It's making the countdown more interesting, and I'm excited to see how it will play out in the end. I dearly hope no one is getting worked up over this. It's meant to be fun.

Cinderella's end is more cruel! I mean, her stepsisters cut their feet!

What bothers me about the changes the most is the kiss...totally screwed up the perception of the tale.

@BraBrief Only in the Grimm version. The Perrault version is much nicer, Cinderella even forgives her sisters.

Why is Mulan gone? The only thing they changed is the timeline, otherwise the Disney version is very accurate.
