He's a bit crazy, but he seems like a really nice father.

He's a creative inventor, like myself, and a social misfit, like myself.

Also, he's funny, even if it's inadvertent.

Interestingly, even though Maurice is the only Disney princess father who is an oddball misfit he's also the only one who spoils her daughter crazy. He's almost too unconditionally supportive of Belle, never making any demands of her or challenging her to improve or do something with her life.

I don't know why, but something make me think he is a great father.
Although he is a bit strict, he seems to be very close to Mulan, they talk to each other and he is very wise, as well.
He finally understood his daughter and looked up to her.

Followed by Maurice and Fa Zhou. I love Rapunzel's father however mainly because of the fact that he never forgot his daughter, and even after 18 years he still showed weakness and sadness.

He is so cute! I like Fa Zhou but he's really obsessed with honor. My favorite is probably Charming's dad.

Mulan's father is my favourite, but I just had to vote for Triton because of how much he ends up giving up for Ariel's happiness in the end. He grows so much as a person, he refuses of his prejudices against humans and accepts Ariel's point of view that he used to completely reject and even punish her for a different opinion, finally, he lets Ariel go and gives her a chance to be happy with Eric and it's not something every father would do, unfortunatelly, there are truly posessive parents that would not help their children achieve their dreams and their happiness as long as that happiness means them moving away from home. Triton's decision to turn Ariel into a human on the other hand was a truly admirable thing.

I also love Maurice and James

I just realized that Maurice is actually the bravest of the fathers. I just didn't notice because he's one of the "comic relief" characters.

Even though Maurice is sick, he still goes to rescue Belle alone, unarmed, on foot--in a snowstorm--through wolf infested woods--to face a monstrous and callous violent beast! He almost died just from the snowstorm alone!

i truly love him even though he does go through a lot i mean first his daughter fails the Matchmaker then he is called up to fight then finding out his daughter left to go in his place and knowing that he can't do anything to help her thats something none of the other fathers had to go through i mean Maurice was able to try to rescue belle Stefan was able to hide Aurora Triton and Rapunzel's father where able to have search missions Chief Powathan was able to do more for Pocahontas the point i am trying to make he had it the worst out of all the fathers i mean the others had the hope/know that they would get their daughters back but what about him his daughter had a small sliver of a chance of survival i mean there was no way to know if she would make it back for him it was not a when but an IF i mean for 90% of the movie we saw Mulan grow through her experiences we knew she was alive but her father did not he thought he would never see her again think about how he almost loses his child i mean it was no wonder why he was so happy to see his daughter he would have peace knowing his daughter was alive and well he was just so relieved when she returned

and their relationship is very important in the movie I think he's the bravest because not only was he a soldier himself but he fought against his normal instincts when his child ran away just to give her a better chance if only a little since she was still at risk of being discovered and killed for breaking the law something that stands out more than any DP father ever did Trition knew one day he would have to give up his daughter Maurice was able to try to rescue Belle and the others where more able to help their daughters and he had to keep his silence His daughter his only child was fighting in the army and there was nothing he could have done to protect her he knew how very likely it was he would never see Mulan again

A truly courageous and noble person. Also James. Fa Zhou isn't a good dad at all in my opinion.

I hate that Maleficent made one of the few Disney dads shown to care about his daughter and her feelings about a political marriage into the villain.
