Ok so I saw a talented user here post an articulo about the Bechdel Test and being the Walt geek that I am, was immediately inspired to do a Walt disney Test.

Walt disney was unfortunately only alive to fully see over the production and release of Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty which are known as the "Classic Princesses". For this reason, I took everything in common that I could find with these 3 princesses for relevancy to rate the others. The 14 commonalities I found were: 1.) Beautiful Face 2.) In Shape Body 3.) Soft/Sweet Speaking Voice 4.) canto Voice 5.) Dance Scene [Solo o with Others] 6.) Modest Clothing 7.) Innocent Virtues (Kind, Modest, Reserved, Humble) 8.) Animal Friend o Pet 9.) Marry the Prince [& Live Happily Ever After] 10.) There is Magic Involved in Their Story 11.) Female Villain 12.) Born/Married into Royalty 13.) Wear a Head/Hair Piece 14.) Have the Color Blue in at Least 1 Outfit

So, since the majority of the princesses have been made post-Walt's death without his supervision and approval, which ones would still meet his standards? The purpose of this is to see which princesses are the most up to what Walt Disney's standards for a princess were and what he liked to incorporate into princess films. [This was before the commercialized franchise.] I will exclude Snow White, cenicienta and Aurora from the lista as they are the Standard. They will be referred to as the [i] Classics for the sake of condensing where possible.

1. The Little Mermaid/Ariel meets 14/14 Standards:
Although Walt disney died before he got to see this film made, he was still a major role in the planning and development as he started on it in the late 1930s soon after Snow White. link por chance, original story and visual development work done por Kay Nielsen for Disney's proposed 1930s Anderson feature." There were many changes to the script but Ariel is a popular fan favorite. I find it rare that anyone sees Ariel as más traditional since she is such a progressive and open-minded character. This was a beautiful blending of what Walt wanted and what was trending at the time.

2. TIE - Belle and Tiana meet 13/14 Standards:

Beauty and the Beast: Like The Little Mermaid, this is a story that Walt had his sights on after Snow White. Walt tried to develop this in the 1930s as well as the 1950s but it proved to be too much of a challenge. After the success of [i]The Little Mermaid however, those challenges were finally overcome. Belle's most unique characteristic is her knowledge and amor of reading. The only thing her story lacked in common with the Classics was a female villain. This was a beautiful blending of what Walt wanted while incorporating change and what was trending at the time.

The Princess and The Frog: This is one that Walt hadn't actually thought of but he'd certainly still be proud. All of the production and development for this film occurred around 2006 and after. This film is probably the best proof that disney could do new, different, diverse, traditional and Walt all in the same package. Like Beauty and the Beast, the only lack of commonality with the Classics was a female villain. I personally think this would be the film that Walt would be the most proud of since his death. Tiana has all of the qualities that the Classics have and more. She is very balanced with humility, modesty, grace, work ethic, self-respect, determination, perseverance, ambition, etc.

4. Tangled/Rapunzel meets 12/14 Standards: Another story that Walt hadn't considered. This film started production and development starting in 2002. Rapunzel's character was written to be más "Renaissance, bohemian" woman than typical disney princess. That being dicho the only 2 things she lacks in common with the Classics are an outfit with the color blue in it and she doesn't marry a prince. Personally, I think Walt would've liked everything about this film except her not marrying the prince and a wanted criminal instead. She is the princess so of course the criminal saved her, that doesn't erase his background and character. Him taking on responsibility and commitment in addition to a complete abstinence from crime would be his route to earning Rapunzel's hand. Other than this, I think Walt would be proud.

5. TIE - Frozen/Elsa & Anna meet 10/14 Standards: (Or 10.5 Depending on how tu look at it with the "Female Villain") Although this is the newest Princess film out yet (or so it seems as it has not been formally inducted yet), this is actually one of the films that Walt disney had already had in mind and been working on also around the time of Snow White. Originally titled Snow Queen, this film proved to be too problematic and Walt had to put it on the shelf. Interestingly, this film's development started increasing after the success of the Renaissance Period but was unfortunately shelved again. It wasn't until Lilo & Stitch that the disney team were finally able to find a way to make the Snow queen work, inspired por the sisters Lilo & Nani Pelekai. The lack of commonalities between Elsa & Anna and the Classics are: no pet/animal friend (Sven is Kristoff's so I didn't count him and Olaf is a snowman not animal); neither marry a prince; neither wear a hair piece. Since Walt was such a family man, I think he would have been very proud of this film despite those few differences. The en general, general theme of frozen was about family and it still very much represented his vistas and standards of what he wanted princesses to be as far as personalities and qualities.

7. TIE - Jasmine, Pocahontas(Rebecca) and mulan meet 9/14 Standards:

Aladdin: All of the production and development of this film began in the early 1990s. It was taken from the story 1,001 Nights but changed dramatically (Chinese to Arabian for example) and greatly Disney-fied (even with lots of cameos of earlier characters). The 5 lack of commonalities jazmín has with the Classics are: soft/sweet speaking voice (hers is más sultry/seductive); modest clothing; innocent virtues (modest, humble, kind even to those they don't like o who are mean to them); marry a prince and female villain. I don't think Walt disney would have been proud of this one at all because it is disrespectful to the culture it represents and not in line with his modest values. Walt always wanted his disney company to be as innocent as possible and the staff did not do him justice with this princess. I think Walt would've been perfectly fine with the concept, just not the execution. I think the changes he would've made with jazmín [aside from making her más true to her culture in general] are as follows: más modest, softer than sultry voice, and politely reject the suitors instead of attack.

Pocahontas: This film was entirely conceived of etc. in the 1990s. It was meant to be a sort of, Romeo and Juliet type piece, where Pocahontas is torn between wanting to help the English white settlers and obeying her father who wants to destroy them. The lack of commonalities between Pocahontas and the Classics are: soft/sweet speaking voice (hers is más mature and stronger but in a good way); doesn't marry a prince; no magic in her story; no female villain and no hair piece. I really do think Walt would have loved to have personally worked on this piece, mostly because she is real. However, I think Walt would have kept it más historically accurate since the truth más resembles his traditional family values. Pocahontas chose to adopt the name Rebecca and married John Rolfe, had a son together and lived happily ever after. This is something that I think Walt would have included in the 1st film and I don't think he would've added the imaginary romantic relationship between her and John Smith that never happened. I also don't think he would've used the name "Pocahontas" since it means "naughty one" and was only her nickname. Her real name was Matoaka until she legally changed it. Aside from making the story más accurate, I don't think Walt would've changed much else. I'm not saying he would've made it totally accurate, the real story has to be Disney-fied for audiences, I just don't think he would've made it as inaccurate. Inaccuracies aside, I think he would've been happy.

Mulan: In the mid 1990s disney started to dip their toes in Asian-themed animation. One short they were working on was link who is whisked away por a British Prince Charming to happiness in the West. disney combined this with The Song of Fa Mu Lan, the Chinese poem, to create Mulan. The lack of commonalities that mulan has with the Classics are: soft/speaking voice (good for her story to better fake male voice in army); no dance scene; no marrying a prince; no female villain and no ties to royalty through birth, marriage o even adoption. I know there are going to be a lot of people out there who don't agree but I don't think Walt would've liked mulan joining the battlefield. All statistics mostrar that women on the frontlines are bad for the women, the men, the military in general and our country's chance of winning. Because of this I think Walt would've absolutely embraced the "Chinese girl whisked away por British Prince Charming" but I don't think he would've supported a role model that gives girls unrealistic expectations that could get them killed o other horrible things that tend to happen to women who registrarse the military. I am not saying that women shouldn't be in the military at all, I am just saying that I don't think Walt would've approved of encouraging young girls to registrarse the military to be on the battlefield. I think Walt would've been más comfortable if mulan had been a military nurse instead of passing as a male soldier.

10. Brave/Merida meets 7/14 Standards: (Or 7.5 Depending on how tu look at it with the "Female Villain") She is hailed as the most progressive and atypical of all the princesses. Some do not prefer this change and others embrace it. It was announced in 2008 as The oso, oso de and the Bow but was released in 2012 as Brave. The many lack of commonalities that Merida has with the Classics are: no soft speaking voice; no canto voice; no dancing; lack of innocent/demure virtues; didn't marry prince and doesn't wear a hair piece. It's obvious that Merida doesn't fit in line with the original standards but is that necessarily a bad thing? Walt disney cared about innocence and good prevailing so no, I don't think Walt would've been disappointed with Brave/Merida. Although she started off reckless, impulsive, irresponsible and self-centered, she really did go through a transformation change (it just took her mother almost dying at her father's hands for it to happen). Since disney wasn't one to leave out tragedies (Bambi; zorro, fox & the Hound; etc.), I do think he would've enjoyed Merida's character arch since good prevailed in the end and she saw the error of her ways. Knowing Walt, I think he would've at least added a song and dance if not a prince and happily ever after wedding and ending. Overall, despite the seemingly numerous differences, I do think Walt would've been proud. Especially because it was also an original story.

So en general, general Ranking based on my estimation of Walt's favoritos disney princess/film to least are:
1. Tiana - Princess and the Frog

Because he didn't think of it but it comes from a classic fairy tale, she meets his classic princess standards and goes above and beyond. She learns about amor and life as well as reaches her separate dreams and makes her dreams come true.
2. TIE: Ariel - Little Mermaid & Belle - Beauty & The Beast
Because both of these are pieces that he worked on but didn't get to finish. Both of these princesses meet all of his standards [even if the film's other aspects don't] and I think he would've been really proud to see the finished products.
3. TIE: Elsa & Anna - Frozen, Rapunzel - enredados & Merida - Brave
Because with Frozen, he really wanted to find a way to make the Snow queen work and I think the disney team did a wonderful job at doing that while keeping to his family values. With Valiente I think he would've loved the originality and character arc of maturity etc. The reason they are one spot below Ariel & Belle is because Walt is very traditional and I think he would've liked them just a bit más if he got to see their happy ending with a prince. I still think he would've loved them though. Rapunzel fits all of the standards that Walt had for his princesses except for marrying a top, quality man (the prince). I don't think he would've approved of marrying the criminal but otherwise I think he would've loved Rapunzel.
4. Rebecca - Pocahontas
Because Pocahontas is very close to meeting all of his standards. Although she doesn't marry a prince, it's kind of like she did because she married into a much better life for herself (I'm in no way saying that's the sole reason). There is no magic in her story but their version of the real story is compelling enough without magic. Nature fills that role instead and I think Walt would've absolutely loved this.
5. TIE: jazmín - aladdín & mulan - Mulan
Because I think he would've wanted either a better character arc in jazmín o different characteristics altogether. With mulan I think he would've wanted a different plot. I don't think he would've hated o even disliked these characters, I just think he would've made the most changes to them and their films than all of the other ones.

*Note: I request that comentarios would be made in constructive and considerate manners please. I understand there will be people with opposing opinions and I amor to hear them and am very open to them. However, please refrain from blatant extreme and baseless accusations such as I'm a sexist o that Walt disney is. Some vistas are más conservative but that doesn't make them sexist. Nothing about my vistas o Walt's vistas are sexist, they are simply rooted in traditional family values that may o may not be as important to you. Please be respectful and mindful. I don't mind opposing opinions at all, I just don't appreciate absurd accusations.

A/N: So I was watching Beauty and the Beast this morning and I read a story
about the prince before he was transformed and it gave me this idea. I
thought it would be interesting to see the individual changes from who the
prince was before to who he was after Belle broke the spell. I also thought that
it would be interesting to see it through the eyes of someone besides Belle
or the prince.

Also I use the name Adam for the prince.

Disclaimer: I do not own Belle o the Beast/Prince/Adam o any of the other
characters...lets just say I do not own Beauty and the Beast. Also I dont remember
clearly how...

ppv and I decided to collaborate together on an article. Here are our favorito! Princesses!

9. (DG) Aurora, (ppv) Ariel

DG: Just because Aurora is last on my lista doesn’t mean I don’t like her. It all boils down to the fact that she’s not in her film for very long, and I just felt like I didn’t get to know her as well as some of the others on my list. She’s pretty, but in a generic way. My favorito! thing about Aurora is that she’s a hopeless romantic.

ppv: Ariel is a childish and funny girl with fantastic voice (one of best voices among disney Princesses, no doubt), she's...

NUMBER NINE: Meeko
I think a lot of people think he's really cute and everything, but I kinda just kind him annoying.. and I haven't seen Pocahontas in a while, so this is just going por memory, but I don't really remember him doing much in the movie, other than eating John's comida :P

NUMBER EIGHT: rayo, ray
Now, the Princess and the Frog is one of my favourite DP movies, because of the epicly awesome prince, and wonderful princess, but Ray...

“Puhlease,” she whispered. “Can’t we just sabotage this bit?”
“Think of how to do it and you’re welcome,” Esmeralda replied.

Everyone else was doing it, so I decided to make one of my own. Please keep in mind I like all of the princesses, just some más than others. So scroll down and enjoy my article!!!! 9. Aurora
I do like Aurora! Honest! It's just that I don't get to see much of her. I like it when characters mostrar a lot of personality on the big screen, and Aurora did mostrar some, but not much. We see she likes animales and dreams about true love, but that's about it. She could've been higher on my lista if she showed más personality. 8. jazmín

9. Snow White's Castle
I'm sorry, but the only thing that seems good about this place is that it has a few nice balconies that tu can stand on while your man serenades you. Other than that, it's a very dark, eerie castle. Of course it's ran por an evil queen so that makes perfect sense.

8. Prince's Castle (Snow White)
The scene with the Prince's castillo is one of the most beautiful scenes in all disney cine however, we can't really see it. It seems más like a mirage made of light in the clouds if tu ask me. It's obviously beautiful, but we have no idea what it actually looks like inside....

hola i'm new here so I just want to say that I will give my honest opinion and I probably don't swear half as much as the average teenage girl. I think. Just a little uh...preview of me there hehe.

Moving on, I will evaluate the princes on not only looks but what I found hot about their personalities too since I believe in all that "looks aren't everything" crap. Also keep in mind that this is just MY opinion, some may agree some may not that's your prerogative just please don't fight me about this.

PS: I know I should've put imágenes but I just found out how and will probably add them later.
