Why aren't Esmeralda and Megara disney Princesses

Disney Heriones

The two most popular disney women outside of the DP franchise. These two exotic beauties are definitely fan favoritos when it comes to Animated Heriones, so why aren't they apart of the official line-up? The main reason people complain about mulan being an official princess is that she gets recognized when these two ladies don't. Even though Megara is closer to royalty than her and Esmeralda is pretty much equal to Mulan. So basically I'm going to do the same thing I did with Merida. Look at the Pros and Cons of adding Esmeralda and Megara to the line-up. The only difference is, Merida still has a chance to be a disney Princess. For these two that ship as sailed, but at least they get to be in merchandise every once in a while. You'll also notice that I'm alittle más detailed in this article, fully explaining my points. Let's get started.

Hopeless Romantic

Reasons Why
-Esmeralda's Spanish and Megara's Greek, adding alot más diversity to the line-up.
-Megara ends up with Hercules, the son of a God. She may not be a princess but she is royalty.
-Both girls sing in their films, God Help The Outcasts and I Won't Say I'm In amor are both popular songs.
-Both women are great role modelos for young girls to look up to.
-Megara is role model for young ladies in that she refuses to be a damsel in distress
-Esmeralda is a good role model for people as whole. She wants to put an end to prejudice.

Gypsy and Activist

Reasons Why Not
-Both of their films are failures por Disney's standards. They didn't do terrible por any means but in comparison to The Lion King and aladdín it's pretty bad.
-Neither of them are the main character in their movies. Let's be honest here, jazmín just got lucky because her film earned alot of money.
-Esmeralda's movie is rather dark, mature and not very suitable for a franchise for little girls.
-Megara's diseño is completely outta whack compared to the other princesses.

Dynamic Duo

Personally, I really want these two to be offiicial disney Princesses and it really bothers me that they're not. With all the other heriones, like Jane, Alice, Kida, Nala, Lilo, it's easy to see why they're not apart of DP. But with Megara and Esmeralda, it's harder pinpoint why because they fit the criteria so well. They sing, they fall in amor and they're from different cultures. I truly don't understand why disney won't acknowledge these strong and beautiful ladies. I amor Esmeralda's sex appeal and I amor Megara's deadpan snarker attitude. Maybe one día disney will see the errors of their ways. For now, I'm comfortable with the official line up but it could be much better with these two action girls.

Safira-09 i don´t want them in the line up, because i love them to much for this and fear for girlish-turned versions of them...

Pikatogeon16 here's why: A. They aren't princesses B: The story is not about them (that's why Mulan, who didn't marry a prince,is a princess because shes the main character.) C. Neither one of their movies were very successful, not even vault worthy, I'm sure someday they will be but that day is not today D. Esmeralda is a character with high religious perspectives which is the riskiest characteristic you can have on a princess Sorry. But never say never

Jessikaroo I'd rather have Disney create the heroine line-up for Esmeralda, Meg, Jane, Alice, Kida, Lilo and whoever else I forgot. I know lots of kids who'd prefer the heroine's to the princesses, and you're right Esme and Meg are fan favourites. And having their own line-up would mean you could actually find merchandise! :o My dream shall live on... Good article though :) EDIT: I don't think the whole religious thin is a very good argument against Esmeralda being in the line-up, Snow White was seen praying in her movie.

alldisfan It can be argued that they're not the protagonists but if you know the real story of The Hunchback of Notre Dame you know that Esmerelda is actually the main character. Disney changed the focus. Also Esmerelda is not Spanish. Indian is closer though I believe "gyspy" is derived from the mistaken identification with Egyptians. I love Esmerelda (Megara-not so much) but a princess she is not. She didn't even get with the main character (which is closer to what actually happened in the book-arguably). Why should she matter so much? And more than Kida? Not in my book. You stated your point well though and that is all that matters.

TigerRanma One can't say that Esmeralda is Spanish. It's never confirmed that she is. If she really is a Gypsy, she would be considered Romani, whose ancestors are Indian. Hell, in the book, she's not even born a gypsy; she's a French girl adopted by gypsies. Other than that, I think you made a good article about why Esmeralda and Meg are not in the Disney Princess lineup.

JNTA1234 Well I read somewhere that the original character is Spanish, I think it was Wikipedia, I'm not sure. Plus she's played by Salma Hayek in another adaption. Esmeralda's ethnicity always confused me. Anyways, Thanks For Reading :)

TigerRanma No. In the original story, Esmeralda was a French girl named Agnes who was adopted by Gypsies. In the Disney version, they actually made her a Gypsy, meaning she is Romani. That race's ancestry originates from India.

QueenElsa123 Megara actually is a princess because she was the oldest daughter of Creon, the King of Thebes in Greek mythology. So really Megara should be an official Disney princess.

greenfox411 Esmeralda should be a disney princess. I think just on the basis that in Once upon a princess she is adopted by Clopin who is considered the leader of the gypsies and in the books even called the King of Truands/King of the Gypsies. In many adaptions of the story Esmeralda is considered Queen of the Gypsies.

J3rs3yG1rl First off, saying they aren't in the Princess line up is a cop out because Mulan isn't one either. In fact, Disney even referenced Esmeralda as being Queen of the Gypsies. Being Clopin's heir in a way, she is royalty by that. She doesn't have to have nobility. Clopin is the leader/King of their people. Therefore, when she was taken under his wing, she became the equivalent to a Princess among her people. Also, the movie wasn't a failure. It's ignored by the company because of a grudge against former CEO Michael Eisner who's favorite film happened to be Hunchback.

've always loved the friendships and family relationships shown in disney cine and I really wish we could see más of them. While romantic relationships are nice, I've always loved the raw emotions shown through these relationships and wanted to devote an articulo to them. This lista isn't really in any order por the way. Hmm..I'm not even sure if this classifies as a relationship, but I just find the dynamic between these two characters to be fascinating. I amor seeing how Gothel seemingly brainwashes Rapunzel and how their relationship...

The Most Beautiful disney Princess

So... It's been a couple of weeks since I've written an article. All of the disney Princesses are beautiful, just some of them are más so.

13. Jasmine
She's beautiful in an exotic way. I amor her skin color and her thick, glossy hair. However, her figure is a little too unrealistic and her eyes can look weird.

She's also very pretty, but she's drawn a little too cartoony for my tastes. Her hair can look really beautiful at times, and I amor her eyes. Her hair can sometimes be too bright, and she's way skinny.

hola guys! I've seen drama in the club, especially in the encuestas and just have enough of it. tu see, drama is mean and it just makes everything seem crazy. Everyone has their opinion and tu should respect that.

When people pick another opinion than yours, tu get angry and tells him/her to pick your opinion! In the LEAST favorito! polls, tu shouldn't be like "LEAVE NOW" to the other picks because some people like that pick

My Original Thoughts
When I first watched Frozen, in late November, I loved Elsa.. más than Anna. I loved her message, her relatability, everything! She was a new type of girl to the lineup. She was completely different from everyone else, and I loved her! She was in my parte superior, arriba three forever. She took a slip o two to my parte superior, arriba five, but she never graced out....

I held this same countdown not too long hace and I really wanted to chime in with my own opinion on the matter. I think all of the princesses mostrar at least some strength emotionally, so I decided I couldn't rank them! Anyways I hope tu enjoy lectura this! Also, my definition of emotional strength might be different from your own. After lectura some of the descriptions in people's lista for the countdown I realized that not everyone has a similar definition. ((the princesses are in a totally misceláneo order, sorry that this articulo is such a mess...))

Ariel hate is out of hand

Guilty, I'll say. I was a user who baffled Ariel with hate. I could see many flaws with her because a lot of people were pointing them out, but now I see she's just underrated. True, I still think Merida has a much better personality por comparison, but Ariel is gaining so much hate, it's starting to make me want to come to her defense.
Ariel is pretty guilty to my calculations, she was forbidden to go out to surface and showed up to her concierto while everyone depended on her. Ariel did wrong things, but she does have some good points.
