Extra funny since men are largely the most inappropriate and SPOILED customers *ever*, and the studies about narcissism being more common in men just back up my experiences as a retail worker. Also, I think people are deliberately misconstruing what that lady said when she was talking about how rude the term is. I used to say it a lot and even I'm sick of hearing it and seeing how it's devolved.

But in all seriousness I honestly refer to dumb male customers as Karen’s too. I feel like Chad is the gym equivalent to Karen. So it’s not a thing that’s limited to just women. In my experience alone there were more inking middle aged women than men when I worked as a chashier. BUT the middle aged men were always the worst when they did show up they were always the ones that got aggressive and made me want to quit on the spot. Frankly teens and middle schoolers have been the nicest. The elderly (who also tend to get a bad rep) were usually sweet to me too.

So no I don’t think it’s an ‘okay zoomer mommy made you get off of tiktok” thing. I think that there are shitty and nice people in all generations. But in my experience alone (working 6 years as a lifeguard and another few as a cashier) middle aged women and college guys have always caused me the most stress. Again this is just my personal experience though. And I’m not going to go out and generalize all middle aged women or college dudes because of a handful of assholes.

I’m always gonna make Karen jokes tho because if someone is yelling at customer service people they deserve to be the burg of a joke for picking on people who can’t stick up for themselves without risking their jobs. That right there is why Karen’s have become a thing to meme about.
