So being as math is the bane of my existence right now and I've finally snapped and nothing is left of my motivation in regards to math but a manifestation of pure rage and anger I am going to rant más about how much I hate math. I have grown to hate it so much that I am now putting effort and energy into my hatred of it. So I will now continue my venting and raging about why students shouldn't have to suffer like so.That dicho parts of this are going to be taken from my comentario over on my 'is math necessary' poll.

So being as amargo, amargos about math as I've grown to be, I've done quite a bit of research...

Peggy McIntosh, author of "White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack"
From Peggy McIntosh's articulo available in full link. The rest of this articulo will be directly quoted from that. I publicado the whole link as well, but for the tl;dr crowd, this is the meat and potatoes of it.

My schooling gave me no training in seeing myself as an oppressor, as an unfairly advantaged person, o as a participant in a damaged culture. I was taught to see myself as an individual whose moral state depended on her individual moral will. My schooling followed the pattern my colleague Elizabeth Minnich has pointed out: whites are taught to think of their lives as morally neutral, normative,...

tu may be asking yourself right now, how can Evolution be a religion? o Creation a science? Such small questions, with huge answers.

First, tu must understand me. I believe where the facts lie, that the truth is with that. Facts come first, then faith. (Yes, tu need faith for both!)

Now mind you, sometimes facts are wrong. Facts used to say that the world was flat. But that fact was proven wrong.

Back to the questions. Evolution and Creation.
Misunderstandings on both sides have let many frustrated with arguments and conflicts. If we first get an understanding of where the other is coming...

Note: It's kind of late at night so this is a bit rushed & disorganized (especially regarding the points about Depp, Rowling, and DeLisle) so if anyone needs any clarification o más context o would like to hear más in depth about my personal feelings on each case, feel free to ask.

So this is inspired por a reciente experience that I had with cancelar culture o an attempt at it. I have always been against cancelar culture mostly because I've had several bad experiences with it over stuff that was blown way out of proportion. It was used as a humiliation tactic and a means to try to kick me...

When I created this spot nearly a año ago, my intention was to create a foros for the respectable exchange of ideas among educated individuals. To my great excitement, I got exactly that: multifaceted individuals who knew where they stood but were curious to learn about others and make their own ideas known. There were the occasional people who would refuse to listen and only talk, and there were the occasional users who would refuse to acknowledge a good point against them. But over all, I've enjoyed our lively discussions.

For a time, the debate spot was lacking in any real "debate." There...

This articulo details the arguments supporting the position that "wooden pencils are better than mechanical pencils" in the link, in order to ensure that arguments are not repeated and also for the audience to keep track of the arguments and their counters. This articulo was last updated on 8 April 2008.

The arguments come in two forms: arguments for the superiority of wooden pencils, and arguments for the inferiority of mechanical pencils.

Wooden Pencil Superiority

Argument: Wooden pencils write thicker than mechanical ones.
Counter-argument: Thinner lines are preferable where thin sharp lines are...

The prevailing prejudice in the United States in this post 9/11 world is against Arabs, specifically Arab Muslims. I'm not saying there aren't other "isms" at play in the US, por any means, but tu can't deny the repugnant anti-Arab sentiment that has permeated its way into American culture. For the ignorant American, it is just another reason to hate another group.

I found myself typing a long reply to one of MajorDork74's comentarios on his link. If you're too lazy to click on the link, the image is a bumper sticker which says "If it's OK to call arbusto, bush Hitler, then I say it's OK to call Obama Muslim."

And the general response was, "Call him whatever tu want, but this statement doesn't make sense... how is being a Muslim as bad an insult as being called Hitler? I'm sure tu can think of worse and más accurate things to call Obama."

The Major returned with, and I quote: "Obama does a lot of things that people do not know about. How do tu know he does not...

On and off for the past several years, I've been working on a bunch of artículos here on Fanpop: interviews (so many interviews....), comic articles, reviews, and various "What is..." explanatory articles. One of the ones on the back burner has been the "What is Debate?" article, and since I haven't finished that, I have to summarize some basic points about debate:

1) debate is all about using arguments to support a position, thesis o statement.
2) debate requires opposition: at least two sides arguing the truth o fallacy of the thesis.
3) debate requires an audience to judge the effectiveness...

All right, so tu probably saw this in your update and thought, "Oh, interesting," and then saw it was written por Cinders, and now tu expect something sarcastic. But no, I am being very serious. Even as a self-described liberal, I do amor conservatives, I want conservatives in this spot to SPEAK UP and I am going to tell tu why.

I have very strong opinions, as I am sure many of tu are familiar. Some of tu agree with the things I say, some of tu don't. And I welcome both reactions to the things I have to say, especially if tu disagree. As I call myself a liberal, those who tend to disagree...

Imagine that tu are in a boat. There are other people in your boat. There is also one person in the water. Allowing this person to get onto your barco will not sink the boat. Everyone could easily fit comfortably. But still, there is a person in the water.

Now, if this person was only in the water for a short time, then yes, saying, "Hey, guys, lend me a hand onto your boat?" is probably exactly what she would do. But imagine this person has been in the water for hours. And imagine that it was other people in the barco that pushed her in there. Not you, of course. tu didn't push her in. But...

How does God speak to you?
How does God speak to you?
Behind the minuto laws and rules of a book like Leviticus, are principles which hint at what God is like. He is a Holy God who must be taken seriously. People of that time (and a lot of today's people) had the habit of inventing and discarding gods as they felt like it. God declares that He alone is the true God, worthy of all worship. In one sense what God ultimately demands -- OBEDIENCE -- has not changed since Old Testament days. But God teaches the Israelites much as a parent must teach a young child -- with dozens of clearly spelled-out rules.
Time alone to speak with God is essential.

85 percent of the time, I like to think the world's a wonderful place. we have tecnology and nature all rolled into one delicious sushi-package, we all have different place to visit and new things to learn. most of the time, the world's a very pleasent, innocent place to be. But 15 percent of the time, horrible things happen. people crash planes into buildings, tecnology is faulty, nature is being destroyed and the odd teenager sometimes drops a baby bomb on her parents and boyfriend. but only very ocassionally...

They exist. We all know that.
From the moment we begin to get online, we are warned por adults and teachers of what we are not to do:
*don't tell people your real name
*don't use your nickname
*don't tell people where your from
*don't tell your age
*don't tell your gender
*don't talk to anyone too old

The lista goes on and on.
Why?
Because there are people who get some sick pleasure from mentally-and eventually physically-screwing around with teens and kids, hoping to get an easy lay; maybe even kill the child.
I understand playing it safe; I myself try to be careful.
But there are older men and women...

Just kidding. Below are a few preguntas I’ve attempted to answer about the Westboro Baptist Church (WBC). This isn’t formal research, just a few points that I believe need to be brought to attention.

What is this ‘Westboro Baptist Church’ tu speak of?
The fine folks at Wikipedia have summarized that in far fewer words than I ever could have, so if tu are unfamiliar with the WBC, I would suggest lectura the first paragraph link.

How does a church from Kansas have enough money to send members to protest all over the US?
Since the WBC classifies itself as a church, they are not required...

 Alex Webster and the Gods
Alex Webster and the Gods
Is there a link between capitalism and Christianity, a god of the markets? Some experts think so. There is growing evidence that cristianismo gave birth to the global economy.

Max Weber, the German sociologist, developed the idea that Protestantism is a pillar of the profit system. He introduced the idea that piety and profits can live together. Weber outlined his theory in 1905 with “The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism”.

Calvinism and the Protestant sects, Weber argued, depend on outward signs of salvation. The main ones were diligence, sobriety and success. Thrift was also...

I believe in debate, discussion, and discourse. I believe in listening. I believe in multiple sides to every issue. I believe everyone is worth listening to. I believe there can be fault on "all sides," and that we can all be guilty of misunderstanding each other.

I do not extend these courtesies to racists.

Ideas are dangerous. They are wonderful and they are disastrous. They can be used and misused as weapons o agents of peace. But when tu are met with a truly deadly weapon, giving it the benefit of the doubt and letting it do its thing will get tu and many others killed.

Child recites from the Koran
First of all, let me preface this articulo por saying that I am far from an expert on Islam. The only thing that qualifies me to write this articulo is a handful of research and experience with Muslims. I feel that maybe a Muslim would be better equipped to tackle this issue, however it is so important to me that the Western World understand the difference between islam and Radical islam that I felt compelled to write this article.

In this article, I will clarify that normal islam is as peaceful as any other mainstream religion, like Judaism and Christianity. However, that does not mean that radical...
