Does Anyone Else Feel That They Can't Use Twilight Character's Names For Anything Anymore?

Well, this certainly doesn't bothered me XD. I like a lot of names in Twilight actually, and many people who I know have names from twilight. For example, my friend's name is Bella, and it doesn't bother me, even though I hate Bella. And I amor the name Bella, but hate the character
I think tu shouldn't worry about the names. I mean, it's the CHARACTER that counts, not the names. Want to name your kid Edward, I think tu should :)

I completely agree. I've always loved the name Isabella, but now any time anyone mentions it, my mind automatically goes to Twilight. And even if I could get past the whole Twilight connection, there's still be the fact that there's most likely going to be 12 other Bellas o Edwards in my future kid's class. And sharing a name in a classroom really sucks, tu never know who the teacher's talking to :)

My grandma's name was Alice and it was a name I always wanted to use if I ever had a daughter, but I feel now if I were to use that name, the first thing ppl would think is..."Oh that's so cute, tu named her after Alice Cullen from Twilight." My sister in law had plans to name a daughter of her's Bella, but not anymore. I think this book has made it impossible to use any of these names for anything anymore. Maybe as time goes on, everything will pass, but right now, it's not wise to use these names for anything.

LOL, yeah...that was a problem for me too, for a while.

But then I remembered all the other amazing characters named "Edward", in particular Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist, and suddenly it didn't seem too bad. I've sort of "trained" myself to think of him instead of Cullen whenever I hear the name Edward. And it's working. xD

Team Elric FTW! He's got brains, looks and automail! And I certainly wouldn't mind naming my kid after him. He's made of awesome. ^__^

As I already dicho Bellatrix is known as Bella, and that is how I like the name Bella. There is a Prince Edward from encantada and I absolutely amor that movie and that is how I know the name Edward, and its my brothers middle name. So yeah, its just the way tu recognize the name. Like the way tu recognize the actor for a certain role that stands out.

I amor the name Edward, and it usually makes me think of Prince Edward from encantada o Edward Scissorhands, but now Edward Cullen is kinda eh...

I also amor the names Alice and Jasper. They're bearable characters in Twilight, but I don't think of the Twilight characters when I first hear them, but knowing that some people do..just..Arg!

I actually named my pet hermit cangrejo Jacob... xD

i understand what you're talking about, twilight has become so big, and has made some very crazy fangirls. So some people are más likely to think automatically 'twilight' instead of what tu actually mean.
I think, a name is a name. But i bet somewhere in the world, a normal guy called Edward o Jacob are getting stalked por fangirls, which is ridicoulous, but that's the cause of it bieng popular. x

I know exactly how tu feel. I've always liked the names Alice and Jacob.

For real, I think that the fact that the character's name is Jacob made me like him a bit better. About 7 years ago, my aunt asked us all for name suggestions for her baby boy. I suggested Jacob because I've always loved that named - it's biblical and classy, in my opinion :) Anyway, she did end up naming my cousin Jake :)

I thought about possibly naming one of my kids Alice o Jacob one day, but now I feel like that's a bit of a stretch. I know that there are other kids with those names, but... still. I hesitate. I don't want their names to be too popular, so I've come up with backups now.

well I knw with stories I tried to use alice and someones lIke umm thats copyright tu cant use alice, alice is from twilight and Only twilight, so if tu use her stephanie myer can sue you. Then I showed her bunches of libros with alice in it book one alice in wonderland:D But I can still nae stuff after them but people say omg your a twi fan me 2 and then they have this long convo with you.

I know just what tu mean. I was escritura a short story eith characters named Belladonna(Bella for short) and Jacob, and I swear someone thought I was escritura Twilight fanfiction.

On another note, I think that the names in Twilight are an unfair disadvantage to pre-existing real world Edwards, Jacobs, etc. I know a boy named Edward, a perfectly pleasant boy, but since he's around ten, he's not so much on the attractiveness scale. Still, whenever I hear his name I do a little involuntary comparison in my head.

Try not to think too much about it. I too have a hard time dealing with it though. Whenever I see the name Edward, Bella, Alice etc I think of Twilight. But I've always loved the name Rosalie and Twilight hasn't and will NEVER change that. Stupid Stephenie Meyer won't make me hate my favourite name and since Rosalie is one of the VERY few characters that I liked (except in Breaking Dawn) I don't really have that much of a problem. At least she didn't use my name Elizabeth. God I would still be crying if she had.
Oh and I also like very much the names Stefan/Stephen and Stephanie even though they now remind me of Stephenie Meyer who I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE etc..... But at least there is a slight diferrence between the names Stephanie and Stephenie because otherwise.....

I've always like Alice, Edward and Bella as names, but now whenever I hear those names, I think of Twilight. I'm glad that isn't the same with Angela. It's my middle name, named after my grandmother, and I always thought that if I had a daughter I would name her Angela. And I know that the only reason why my mind doesn't go to Twilight whenever I hear Angela is because she isn't a major character, I do like her though. So thank tu Stephenie Meyer... ^^

same as bookworm. Only I had characters named Jacob and Alice. Jacob, at least in my book, wasn't a werewolf, but he did have a connection to wolfs and was nez perce (a tribute to my own heritige)...

And hell, I loved 'Through the looking glass'

I have an uncle named R.O. I only recently realized his name is pronounced the same as 'Aro.' lol I don't talk about him a lot. It's kind of funny cause these days he's a jolly, laid-back guy, but he used to be in a biker gang.
Anyway, the only name I'm put off por is Bella because it already sounds out of place on a young girl in modern times. Now, it would just stick out even more, especially since I write sci-fi.

no. i only thought it was weird when in the movie daybreakers, the lead vamp's name is Edward and he doesnt drink human blood. but if i hear it somewhere else i dont just jump on it right away and go "they so took that from twilight!".

I feel like if I use Bella for any character in one of my stories, people are going to look at it and say "Mary Sue!"

God yes! It's very annoying too, my brother& I named our fathers cat Bella and everyone that meets her says "Oh tu named her after Bella from Twilight?" Me: -_- "No..."

I'd rather like to think if I named my baby Edward it'd be after Edward Ferrars in Sense and Sensibility, o Edward Scissorhands. My middle name is Alice because my brother wanted to name me after Alice in Wonderland. I don't really think they're ruined names. Except for maybe Renesmee. I'm a bit upset about crossing that one off the lista :P

Same. I've always really liked that name, and if I had a son I was wanting that to be either his first o middle name. But nowwww...

And I realized, unfortunately, that after Twilight became popular that I liked the names Alice, Rosalie and Jasper a lot. :/ Looks like that ship has sailed for a while...

Bella, Edward & Jacob are nasty common names if u ask me.

In my own works, it's not too bad, as long as they're very generic names, such as Jacob. I would just use Jake, o a variation.

But I want to slap someone when some of the "less common" names in the book are used in movies, other books, etc. I can't stand it!
