As Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie prepare to end their marriage, both stars have a team of big names in their respective courts, headed up by some of Hollywood\'s most powerful lawyers.

Jolie has retained divorce attorney Laura Wasser to lead the dissolution of the marriage.

Wasser previously worked with Jolie, shepherding her divorce from Billy Bob Thornton in 2003. Her other high-profile clients have included Johnny Depp (Wasser aided in his split from Amber Heard), Drew Barrymore (in her split from Will Kopelman) and Jennifer Garner (in her and Ben Affleck\'s breakup).

The 48-year-old serves as a partner at the L.A. family law firm Wasser, Cooperman & Mandles, which was started by her father in 1975. Per a 2015 interview with

, the firm charges $850 an hour, and has a $25,000 retainer.

, including having multiple high-profile clients announce splits at the same time to weaken the individual press coverage.

And she\'s earned high praise from colleagues and Los Angeles players, like family law attorney Atousa Saei, who told PEOPLE last year that Wasser has a "cool and calm demeanor."

Jolie, 41, also has the support of brother James Haven, who was photographed playing with Pitt, 52, and the actress\' six children just one day before she filed for divorce.

The star cited irreconcilable differences in her Monday court filing. Jolie is asking for sole physical custody of Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 8.

Pitt has retained family law attorney Lance Spiegel as his representation, PEOPLE confirmed Thursday.

Spiegel, 70, is a partner at Young, Spiegel & Lee, LLP, in Los Angeles.

The attorney has represented everyone from Eva Longoria to Charlie Sheen and Michael Jackson.

A source previously told PEOPLE that Pitt will likely not accept sole custody, as it "doesn\'t seem like what\'s best for the children."

Pitt is under investigation for child abuse by the L.A. County Department of Children and Family Services following a Sept. 14 incident on a private plane in which he allegedly got verbally abusive and physical with the couple\'s oldest child, Maddox, 15.

A source with knowledge of the situation told PEOPLE that Pitt "put his hands on" Maddox, 15, during an argument but "did not hit his child" and "no one was physically harmed."

Pitt is cooperating with the investigation, which has been referred to the FBI, and maintains "he did not commit any abuse of his children," a source with knowledge of the situation told PEOPLE.
