It was the first DP movie movie that I ever remembered being released. I was so excited for it, especially after growing up with all the classics and the Renaissance movies.

Tygers_Eye picked The Princess and the Frog.:
I was really looking forward to this film because it was Disney's first hand-drawn animated film and sincere fairy tale in years. It looked like they were aiming for greatness, hearkening back to the timeless classics, and trying to kick-start another Renaissance.

Which it did, just not in the way they were expecting. Hand-drawn animation is still dead.

8804 picked Brave.:
It sounded like a very curly-haired protagonist was going off on a journey of epic proportions. It turned out to be the exact opposite. Afterward, my hopes weren't very high for Frozen... And Frozen sank even worse than even my newly lowered expectations.

I'm excited for Moana, but my expectations of Disney are now at a record low.

KataraLover picked Brave.:
I thought this was going to be a total badass story about a courageous young woman that was fighting the forces of good and evil to break a curse she had brought upon the land by a selfish act of hers. When I finally watched it that was not the case. Merida was actually kind of a damsel in distress that instead of having to be constantly saved by her prince, had to constantly be saved by her mother. She is an amazing and well-developed character, but she wasn't as much as I thought she was going to be. This movie and character actually made me afraid that they would both replace The Little Mermaid as my favorite movie and that Merida would replace Ariel and Melody as my favorite fictional character.

I wasn't looking forward to any of them but Tangled was the closest thing. I found out about PaTF like a month before it came out and wasn't necessarily excited about it but it seemed interesting. Tangled sounded really cool and I was kind of curious to see how it was going to be. I hated what I saw of Brave in the trailers and was therefore not excited at all. And I've stated multiple times on this site that I wasn't excited for Frozen because I knew it was going to be too modern. I ended up loving the movie but it was too modern as I expected.

I do not think I have ever anticipated a film quite this much amusingly enough. I found some Disney fan sites and get very hyped for about 6 months, it was very fun. I would not normally be anticipating Big Hero 6 so much but I have been spending time in the same places so now I am excited for it as well.

When Princess and the Frog did come out I was rather skeptical after the other films Disney had made recently. I was more excited with Tangled but I still did not pay much attention to it.

Oh god, I literally did not talk about anything else for about a year before it came out. You know, the return of hand drawn animated musical and everything... And I really thought it would last, even though I didn't love the movie in the end. I don't think I'll ever be that excited about an animated movie ever again (unless hand- drawn re-returns!).

People were talking about a dark skinned princess, and I got excited because I wanted to see one that was a different complexion.
