they purposely did that with Merida. Sure, some find her pretty, but most don't, which was the point. Disney/Pixar didn't want yet another conventionally pretty princess so they gave one with a ton of physical flaws.

Also, I think Princess Fiona pretty much pwns this idea.

I was going to say that too, that they basically did that with Merida. But then I felt like I would be calling Merida ugly. Which I don't think she's "ugly", shes just...totally not about looks. But beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.

But Merida didn't find true love and she wasn't "unattractive" to me. Plus you all know that they "sexualised" her for the line up.
