The knock that sounded at her door wasn't unexpected. She opened it, ushering the girl inside.
“Sit down. tu want something to drink?”
“Something to calm my nerves, please.”
She nodded and went to her cabinet of herbs, remedies, and potions, all homemade.
“Why so nervous? tu never are?”
“I know. But I had to get out.”
“You avoided the question.”
The two looked at each other. The older sighed.
“I'll get us refreshments, then tu can tell me.”
“Thank you.”
She nodded again, heading to the kitchen. She started a pot of boiling water and set to fixing a snack. Her eyes landed on a crystallized rose and she shuddered.
“You okay?”
“I'm fine.”
She grabbed the tray of comida and drinks, setting it on the mesa, tabla in front of her guest.
“Okay. Tell me.”
“Have a asiento first.”
She sighed and took a chair. She looked across from her, to the couch.
“Alright Becca. What's so urgent that tu had to come here?”
Becca put the drink she had sipped from down. She forced a smile.
“Have tu noticed anything strange?”
“Strange how?”
Becca looked out the window, watching the wildlife around her. She pulled her knees to her chest.
“Strange like...you know you've done something but tu can't remember what it was. Like you've been surrounded por enemies but didn't fight them. Like tu have a fear of something that tu just can't place. A fear that...never leaves your mind, letting tu know it's there.”
Becca looked back to her hostess.
“Have tu felt like that Dev?”
The ángel looked at her, eyes cloudy.
“I have.”
“So have I. And Erin.”
“What does it mean, Becca?”
“I have no clue, but I think we'll find out soon. Everyone.”
The two sat for a minuto in silence.
“Becca, what if we have become the reason there's so much tension in the team?”
“What do tu mean?”
“I've heard a few things. Whispers of conversations. But tu apparently had some kind of fall in with Bloodmist.”
Becca blinked.
“Why would I? I don't mind him being anywhere close to the team.”
“I know. That's why I'm confused.”
Becca nodded. She looked at her ángel friend.
“Devin, what have tu experienced?”
“Becca, what I say siguiente can not be repeated.”
“I promise.”
