A world filled with miracles. A place filled with violence. A planet filled with dreams. A society filled with hatred. Why are we trapped in this harsh cycle? The earth moves on its axis, día to day, tilted from the never-ending war between two supernatural beings of myth- ángeles and demons. They look like simplistic, inferior mortals from the outside, but the true potential of these kinds are unleashed with the tiniest of confrontations.
There are also those few mortals, who know of their existence. The hunters- the ones who hunt them down. Well, technically the demons- ángeles do no wrong, in a sense. However, the ángel population is depleting, because somehow, the demons take them out. Someone has to stand up to this crisis! But who will?

--------------------

In the darkest depth of midnight, in the normally bustling city of Manhattan, it was chilled over and silent; a wintery burst of freezing air, no cars, no sounds, except an insignificant, nearly muted one. The tiny echo of footsteps in the bare frozen streets, which came from a pixie-like angel, seemingly so fragile a simple touch would shatter her to pieces. She went por the name of Tessa, smaller than the rest of the angels. She would never grow an inch more, and she wandered the streets at this late hour, basically defenseless. Her miniscule size greatly affected her defense training, making her the weakest of her kind.
She bundled herself together tightly, hoping and praying it wouldn't snow once more. She was already trembling, and she could barely see- for the ice had frosted over the streetlights. Hopelessly lost somehow, she visualized a blazing fireplace, warming over her numb body. However, the amargo, amargos winter night was the least of her troubles. A demon, and a powerful one at that, was ogling her, from the nearby rooftops.
This particular demon, who went por the name of Rokai, chuckled to herself, for she had burning confidence that this puny ángel would be of no issue. Her blood red eyes followed Tessa's every step, very intrigued por her. The thought of having such a unique possession in her grasp made her tingle with desire.
Tessa became uneasy almost immediately after placing her near-frostbitten body in front of the building. She could feel Rokai's gaze, as if the being of evil was trying to murder her with eyes alone. Tessa flicked her glittering wings out in a división, split second, making the correct assumption that the being looming over her was not a mere human.
Rokai, after realizing she had been caught, swiftly leaped from the building, hiding her identity, making her figure blurred. One thing she loved almost as much as struggling ángeles was dramatic effect. Rokai landed daintily on her feet, slowly looking up to meet Tessa's death glare.
“Hello there,” Rokai said, smooth as glass, sending a segundo chill down Tessa's spine, chasing away the cold with más cold.
“What do tu want?” Tessa shouted, the shock of a demon before her making her blood boil, melting away her icy feeling.
“Oh, nothing important,” Rokai airily spoke, inadvertently rolling her glowing eyes from side to side, then focusing back on Tessa, “Just your soul.” Rokai took a graceful step forward, and Tessa mimicked her move, gliding backwards.
Rokai tipped her head to the side, questioning Tessa's cowardly movements, and shifted adelante, hacia adelante once more. Tessa stood, petrified, unable to decide on her siguiente move, and her absentmindedness left open a passageway to let Rokai slide right in front of her. Rokai was standing about three feet away por the time Tessa had enough sense to take any action. Using the only mover that came to mind, she used the angel's ability of photokinesis to her advantage, creating a ball of condensed light.
“Get away!” she shrieked, harshly hurling the ball at the gist of Rokai's stomach.
She heaved a little, but it proved a mostly ineffective strategy. Rokai was taken aback por the prospect of the tiny ángel fighting back, but she was sure her power was superior.
The ground began to vibrate violently, causing Tessa to stumble to the ground in a daze. Shadows spewed from every seeable point of Tessa's view, and she tried to force up a light screen to block them, but they locked onto her ankles and wrists, yanking her into the arctic air.
She struggled and struggled, but the shadows paralyzing her were invincible, it seemed. Rokai laughed sinisterly, and glanced up at her, her eyes glowing brighter than before.
“It would be in your best interest not to struggle, my dear,” Rokai advised, snapping her fingers. The dark shackles tightened por her command, making Tessa whimper. She ordered her shadows to return to her, jerking Tessa back to the concrete. Tessa continued to struggle, but in descending effort, as she began to resign to her fate.
“Don't worry, I wouldn't take your soul from tu on the spot. I have to make sure it is worth my time,” Rokai explained, with a villainous tone.
    “What's that supposed to me-”
Rokai, pressing a nerve in her neck, sent her into instant unconsciousness.
“Shh, sleep now, little one, I am tired of your words,” she whispered, dragging Tessa's sleeping body in shadow chains behind her.

At the same moment in time, the focus sets on an official seeming corporate building downtown, por the name of HFDB Inc;. Any average person would see your basic business building that isn't relevant to anyone except people who work there. However, no one has ever been truly curious enough to decode the company's abbreviation: Hunters For Demon Banishment. The largest gathering of demon hunters in the world, the Hunters For Demon Banishment had taken out some of the strongest demons in great numbers.
Of some of the best hunters in the HFDB squad, none could surpass that of Ryou. Ryou had demolished the deadliest of demons with little más than a scratch. He brought in the most wanted almost daily, and everyone wanted to know his secret, but he keeps his tactics undercover. However, today, we get to witness a miracle.
    Ryou's taking a break.
He was lounging in his office, his feet set up on his desk, his arms set behind his head. He exhaled heavily, the feeling of the rare relaxation sweeping over him. His first real rest in years- he hadn't realized how amazing it would feel. The building was deserted, besides him, and combined with the silence, the total peace was causing him to nod with exhaustion. Moments from sleep, his dreams about to begin...
    CRASH!
Ryou sighed with severe frustration, jolting up in an instinctive fighting stance as shattered glass from the windows spilled into his office. He waited impatiently as the smoke nube from the annihilated drywall settled, revealing a teen, with a somewhat suspicious costume of grunge wear, intertwining chains, and giveaway wings of a spattered crimson, with bleached white hair in thick twin tails. She looked up, with a wolfish grin smeared on her face.
“Sorry,” she stated, not seeming the slightest bit apologetic. The stranger stood up in a hasty bound, dusting the flecks of drywall off of her clothes. Ryou glared at her, paused, then sighed deeply once more, with an implied hint of complaint.
“Even on my día off, I have to work,” he groaned, slipping a cuchillo from his pocket. For impression purposes, he twirled it on his fingers so quickly it was almost translucent, before securing the weapon in his hand.
“I do not come with an intention of harm,” the stranger argued, holding her hands up in protest of his threat.
“Oh really. Haven't I heard THAT before,” Ryou skeptically remarked, lowering his arms to his waist.
“I'm not lying!” she exclaimed, then clearing her throat to maintain a mature composure. “    My name is Saki. I have come to tu with a request.”
    Ryou raised his eyebrows. “Continue.”
Saki erected her back. “I have a demon I need tu to be rid of.”
“Oh, a traitor, are we?” Ryou interrogated with a piqued interest.
“Well... I've come into a... disagreement, with another demon. I need tu to take them out before they can take me out,” she disclosed.
“I see,” Ryou noted, taking it to mind, “Well, I've never had a demon versus demon situation before. Tell me, what is the name of this demon tu speak of?”
“Rokai,” Saki replied sternly. She tensed up, as if the mere mentioning of her name was difficult for her to bear.
Ryou nodded, deep in his thoughts now. “Alright. I'll work on this case. However, wear something más fitting of a human. If you're caught in these headquarters, the hunters will be of no mercy. tu are to reportar back to me tomorrow, with your disguise and más information on this Rokai character tu speak of.” He slid back into his chair, running his hand through his silky blue hair.
“Understood,” Saki agreed, and with a flash of her wings, she disappeared out what used to be the window.

-----------------------

Rokai brought Tessa to her underground base, through a labyrinth of pitch dark tunnels, leading to a bulky wooden door. Bound with many different locks, she started clicking them open one por one. Tessa slowly began to flutter her eyes open as Rokai unhatched the final lock. Rokai could feel her movements, and she twisted around to greet her awakening, though Tessa couldn't see her anyways.
“Oh, perfect timing, my dear,” Rokai chortled, briskly turning up a lever. A whole room was suddenly alight, but less like a room- and más like a dungeon. Tessa gazed in horror, looking upon ángel after angel, some locked in cages and some hanging from the walls por their wings, some even looking half dead.
Rokai shoved Tessa onto the floor, and she feebly tried to hold herself up por her arms. Rokai straightened herself to address the other angels.
“Good morning, everyone,” she greeted, smirking, then glimpsing down at Tessa, “Don't be rude, say hello.”
“H-hi...” Tessa peeped, unable to justify her own actions.
“Good girl,” Rokai praised evilly, patting Tessa's head softly. She beckoned her shadows to follow her, tugging Tessa to an uninhabited, unlocked birdcage. The shadows carelessly tossed her into the cage, and Rokai creaked it closed, securing the lock.
“You will be taken care of. At least, until I figure out what to do with you. tu are free to mingle with the others,” Rokai dicho informatively. She turned on her heels and sauntered out of the dungeon, the door's slam echoing behind her.
Tessa curled in a ball in the back of her cage, unable to find condolence in her own warmth. She winced as every one of the barrier's locks were snapped into place, and looked around, absorbing her bleak surroundings. As she glanced over at the ángeles being hung por their wings, she heard the sound of a body swishing down the wall. She followed the sound to find the corpse of an angel, her body lying lifeless, her wings still attached to the chains. Blood from where the wings had once been dripped from the wingtips and oozed from her back, soaking the dungeon floor. The dead angel's soul became clearly visible, bursting into a film of light, escaping through the crack under the locked doors.
Tessa began to silently cry, quietly mumbling her denial any of this was real.
“It's just a dream, it's just a dream, this can't be happening...” she whispered at an inaudible volume. The saddest part of her denial was through it all, there was no denying the fact that she knew this was reality, and it was breaking her heart.

--------------------------

Ryou stood behind the aggravated construction workers, rocking back and forth on his feet as the construction manager approached him.
“How exactly did THIS happen?” the manager asked in a gruff voice.
Ryou already had conjured up an excuse for the incident.
“I threw a chair out the window,” he riposted.
“Oh really? Oddly shaped chair, much,” the manager sarcastically retorted, jabbing his thumb over his shoulder at a half-human shaped opening in the drywall, something Ryou hadn't even noticed before.
Ryou bit his lip, but before a segundo explanation could come to mind, the workers shuffled to pack up their things.
“Finished, boss,” one of them reported, filing out of Ryou's office, followed por everyone else.
As the manager was about to exit, he twisted around, giving Ryou an “I'm watching you” glower, then flipping back around to follow his underlings.
Ryou released a heavy relieved sigh, before plopping back down into his chair. He. began to buscar through his files, when an image appeared in his doorway.
The image wore blue converse boots tied up in ribbons, a plaid blue and black miniskirt, a gray uniform top, and hair tied up in crimped white ponytails. It directed its eyes towards the repaired wall.
“Well, that was fast,” Saki commented, dumbfounded por how it was possible to fix so much damage in so little time.
“And I'm surprised. I didn't think you'd be able to pull off such a look,” Ryou replied, glancing up, his eyebrows raised at an angle.
“Why, tu like what tu see?” Saki jokingly flirted, tugging on the edges of her falda with a witty smile.
“Get serious,” Ryou said, his expression changing like a theatre mask, “Now, elaborate on this Rokai character.”
Saki positioned herself in the chair, musing for a moment. She then gathered enough thought to speak.
“Rokai is a very sadistic demon, one of the worst I've ever met. However, I came across her one night, and I had heard rumors. From my own curiosity, I trailed her underground. I discovered something about her that, por the laws of Hell, are prohibited. She collects angels, and keeps them in a base, torturing them, abusing them, until they die. Only then, does she take their souls from them,” Saki confided. Ryou's eyes popped a little.
    “Really?” he questioned, interested.
Saki nodded slowly. “Unfortunately, I was caught- I was able to escape Rokai's wrath, but she's after me, I know. Therefore, I need tu to take her out for me. But, tu have to think, it's a win-win situation. I don't get hunted down and eliminated, and tu get to free your precious angels.”
Ryou contemplated, and it dawned on him she was correct. Now he absolutely had to take this on, for he had never heard anything of the sort happening in his career.
“Do tu remember where the base was?” Ryou interrogated, hoping to require some sort of evidence to track Rokai down.
“I'm afraid not,” Saki answered solemnly, “It was pitch black underground, and I don't really remember the area we were in. It's a huge maze of darkness, and it would take anyone besides Rokai an eternity to find.”
Ryou gritted his teeth together in obvious frustration.
“Well, fine, we'll just meet this thing head on. The only way to get to the dragon's loot is to get through the dragon.”
Saki tilted her cranium, not comprehending the analogy. “What dragon?”
Ryou slapped his forehead with his palm, and grunted. “Rokai. The only way to find the base is to meet Rokai, face to face.”
“But I can't do that! She'll lacerate me into little chunks and pieces!” Saki squealed with panic.
Ryou paused, then sat up taller.
“Saki, take a note please. Write down everything I'm about to say to you. Sign your name at the bottom. We'll go from there,”
Saki obeyed his demand, curious as to his intention, but not questioning his motives. She thought, if Ryou was the best hunter in the world, he must have known what he was doing.
