Chapter 16: With You, Not Against you.
I will now be staying in renesmee's POV until further notice. (: This is taking off of where it left in chapter 15 (Her phone ringing)
"Nessie?" I heard jacob ask, i looked up into his urgent eyes. I carefully slipped out the phone, yet his hands restricted me from pressing anything.
"Jacob, it's just Kalvin" I dicho lightly "He's no harm, promise".
I felt him hesitate, but then he carefully retracted his hands, freeing my fingers to answer;
"Kalvin?" I took a step away from Jacob, out of habit with a phone call. He immideitly followed, one arm around my waist, the other tapping impatiently beside is leg.
"Hey Renesmee, Have tu heard from alex"
A sudden burst of worry ran through me, I had forgotten that his lobo life wasn't his only. I was silent for a moment, my throat swelled up. Jacob shot me a panicked look, pulling me closer towards him.
"N-no" I managed to choke out "Is somthing
wrong?"
"Yes, i havn't seen o heard from him in weeks, i think morgan might know somthing though.. Ill talk to tu later"
"Yeah, sure if i hear anything- I'll call"
I felt my voice break off at the end. I hung up and let the phone fall from my hands, i heard Jacob catch before it hit the ground.
"Renesmee?!" His voice hit me like a ton of bricks, waiting to fall.
"I forgot that- i just never thought- What is everybody going to think.. o know?"
I saw his eyes tighten ever so slightly, his grip just a tiny bit tighter "Nessie, does somebody have suspisci-"
"No-.. no. That's not it" His eyes and grip immideitly loosend. "What is the public story? Where did he go?"
He looked at me, Pondering for himself "I- I don't know." He paused for a moment "And niether do you, tu will be just as clueless as the rest of the world"
He wondered over to the window, checking to see if anybody was around. This had become a regular thing since the incident with Alex.I nodded lightly, understanding that if i was the one to spread a story, suspicion would arise. I had never seen him this anxious before;
"And what if people ask questions. Thier más observant then tu think, i have ran into some close calls"
He turned around abruptly, his eyes wide with horror. Before i could manage to speak he was already infront of me holding my hands, "Renesmee, tu don't honestly think i'm letting tu go back there, do you?". His brows pulled together, a mix of anger and worry covered his face.
"Jacob, Alex is gone. I'm safe" I whispered.
He shook his head and dropped my hands. He stomped off towards the window looking away from me. "Renesmee" He dicho his voice shaking lightly. "I promise i will keep tu safe, but tu have to meet me half way" I could hear the words being dicho through his clenched teeth.
"Don't tu think your overreacting just a bit?"
My tone almost sour. It was ridiciulous, his thought of my saftey. Yes, i have ran into a few.. mishaps but it's not all that bad. School was probaly one of the safest places, although i guess since Alex's little stunt he started to doubt that.
He cocked his head to the side "Overreacting?" He spat through his teeth, his voice was más fierce now. He walked angrily towards me, "Imagine if tu were in my shoes, nessie! A sadistic teenage werewolf is trying to kill your soulmate, and tu have to do everything tu can to keep them safe. I'm always worried Renesmee, even when your with me." his breathing was heavy now, he was fuming. I only hoped that he wouldn't get too angry.
I looked down, "J-Jacob. It's not like that, Alex isnt here anymore" I dicho in almost a whisper.
"Don't tu see though, there is always going to be somthing. I cant keep tu out of my sight, that's final!"
"Jacob, this is ridiculous!" i exclaimed exhasperated
He closed his eyes once more, in attempt to redactar himself. "No." He dicho through his clenched teeth. His brows pulled together in a frustrated tone. His fists her clenched at his side, his knuckles were turning white.
I took a step closer "Jacob" He cringed away, backing up.
"Nessie stay away, i don't want to hurt you."
My mouth dropped, but i quickly recovered it before his eyes opened. "Jacob" I dicho taking a step closer again, "Your not going to hurt me" I dicho lightly.
I carefully brushed my fingers over the tops of his clenched fists. "Just take a breath..Your not going to hurt me" I dicho once more.
Slowly, his fingers uncurled and wrapped around my waist. He opened his eyes, exhaling loudly. He pulled me into an embrace, he whispered lightly into my ear.
"No" His voice was even now, but still decided.
I sighed and pulled away from him.
I swiftly made my way out into the livingroom. I heard his footsteps follow closly after; "Jake, tu can't protect me from everything"
He winced then replied; "I can try". His voice was a bit uneven now. I turned around to face him once more,
"Jacob, i know tu mean well. Although i think if i am to stay here then it would rise suspision, especialy with tu and Alex's little episode.." i stated.
He grimaced at the memory. He leaned against the sofá staring at the floor for a moment, taking in my fact. The truth is i would be in más danger, all of us would, if i was to stay. I nodded. "So I'll see tu after school on monday?"
He shook his head, "Nessie, i don't like this school idea..".
"You mean tu dont like being seperated" i corrected.
His eyes flashed up at me, with a quick nod. He smiled "That may be why i am a bit biased"
Jacobs phone started to ring, He paused for a moment, studying the caller ID then quickly answered it.
"Bella?" He paused for a moment, I saw his jaw drop as he quickly made his way over to me. "Absolutly not!" He shouted into the phone "No, not if i have anything to do with it".."Well of course i understand that she is your daughter but-".."Bella!" He growled, then i saw him furiously close the phone. I urgently looked up;
"Jacob, what's going on?"
"Nothing! Your not going to Italy!".
"Italy?" I asked perplexed por the meaning. Then it dawned on me, what was in italy. "Oh..Italy" I dicho quietly.
He muttered somthing then left the room to make another phone call. Going to italy was the key though. Maybe, Just maybe if they see us co-operating with them. I stared at the floor, counting each small crack in the hardwood. It seemed like years rather then minutos before Jacob returned.
"Come on Renesmee" I heard Jacob say, pulling me with him towards the door. He had one of my small bags placed swiflt over his right shoulder.
"Where are we going?" I asked him, he didn't answer. I stopped, jerking my hand back. "Jacob, where are we going?" I asked, my voice más even.
"Were going away, for a bit." His voice was stern, set.
"Why? There's no danger" I dicho quietly
He whipped around, catching my gaze "Renesmee, I am not letting them take tu to your death!"
My mouth dropped open; "Jacob, we cant just..just leave"
"Nessie, Please" He pleaded,
I didn't want to hurt Jacob. But i was más worried about everybodys health, más then myself. If the volturi were to come here, there may be a fight. But if i was to go..
"Jacob, i have to go"
"I know!" He exclaimed "That's why I'm taking you" He dicho trying to grab my hand again,I pulled it back.
"No, i mean i have to go to italy" My voice only slightly uneven.
His jaw dropped "W-what?"
"Jacob, If i go to Italy, it could prevent a fight. Nobody would get hurt"
"Could? Renesmee, I'm not here to take anymore chances.."
I took a breath "Well, then good thing it isn't your decision"
He looked at me, "Renesmee" He pleaded once más "Please".
I heard the pain in his voice. Each silent breath stabbed me, but i knew what i had to do. I knew my mother wouldn't have suggested it if there was a safer alternitive. I stared into his pleading eyes for a long moment, I shook my head.
"I'm sorry, I-I have to go" i turned to walk away,
He took another breath, "Nessie, I didn't want to have to do this"
I felt him scoop me up, holding me against him. Carrying me outside
"Jake! Put me down" I protested, although he carried on as if he heard nothing. I crossed my arms angrily against my chest. I saw a car waiting out at the end of the driveway, i couldn't quite make out who was in it though. Jacob opened the back door and swiftly put me in, him sitting close beside me restraining my arms. I stared at the front seat, i saw quil staring solemly at the road.
"Jake" I whined "Please don't do this"
He bit his lip contemplating for a moment, then he closed the door. Quil started to drive. Jacob held me against him. Restraining me from trying to escape most likely. I looked at him annoyed;
"So your just going to kidnap me"
He smiled "You didn't want to come easy.." He explained. I sighed and pushed back from him, although his hand restraints made it hard to move.
"Jacob, do tu really think i'd jump out o the car when were going 100 miles an hour" He thought for a moment, and then let go. I sat back against the asiento staring out the window, i was furious with him. "Ridiculous" I muttered under my breath.
He just smiled and continued to give Quil directions, i didn't bother listening.
I stared as the trees quickly passed us in small green blurs. My phone rang in my pocket, Jacob went to grab it, but i swiftly took it out and pressed it towards my ear.
"Renesmee?" I heard my mother ask urgently
I felt a bit of relife when i realised it was her, "I'm fine." I said, calming her down.
Where are you?" she asked urgently "We called Jacob to tell him we were on our way and-"
"I've been Kidnapped por Jacob" I dicho annoyed. He rolled his eyes
"You make it seem like such a bad thing" He snorted. I looked away from him.
"Of all the things.. Edward!" She called, My father had the phone now "May i talk to Jacob?" He asked kindly
"Of course" I turned to Jacob, reaching the phone out towards him. He grimaced, then took the phone.
"Edward I don't care if tu th-... " I saw a smile spread across his face "That's what im trying to do" . "Maybe siguiente time tu should" He dicho acidly. "To Flordia.."
I stopped listening for a moment. My hopes of my parents letting me out of here were very slim now. Jacob was discussing somthing about Flordia. I wondered what would be so important there, compared to anywhere else.
Then i remembered. Not long after a was born; a couple years really, Paul and Jacob's sister Rebecca moved to flordia. Paul wanted to start aging again, and that was siguiente to impossible with My family around so they went back to flordia together.
It was.. hard on the others for him to leave, them all being so close and then him just not being there they missed him. But it's all worth it really and as long as paul dosn't phase again he will continue to age. It took him quite long, almost three years i beilive to stop.
I felt a tap on my shoulder, Jacob was handing me the phone. A defeating smile spread across his face. i sighed and then listened;
"Hello?"
"Renesmee" I heard my father say "I know how.. annoying, it must be right now." I smiled, that's a start. "But, I guess it's better tu have some más time before they come, we might be able to stall them. If tu were out of forks we could better ensure your saftey"
I sighed again "If tu think that's best, then alright". I hung up the phone, slipping it back in my Pocket. I threw Jake a look.
"Oh come on Renesmee, tu can't be that upset"
I bit my lip lightly "Maybe not.." i paused "But that dosn't mean im not annoyed."
He smiled, "I can deal with that".
Quil let us out at the airport. I got out of the car standing beside Jacob. We went through the crowd of people, making our way towards the front to buy plane tickets, that's when it caught my eye; Italy.
I could always catch a plane from here, if i got away fast enough. Surely my family wouldn't be able to stop me. I had already strategicly planned my escape when i heard Jacob whisper;
"Don't even think about it" He kissed the parte superior, arriba of my head.
I let my eyes drop from the Italy plane listings.
"Are tu still not talking to me?" He whispered with a smile, but he turned solem. "Renesmee, i want to keep tu safe. I do this for you, not against you."
He wrapped his arms around me. I nodded silently and stared out into the mass of people.
