EXACTLY! And Canada came in first anyway! So they would have gotten gold! They couldn't let Apolo just have silver on his supposed last race??? Selfish asshole biased ref.

Some contact is allowed in short track but if the contact even appears to be the reason another skater fell then you have to be dq'd.

I love Ohno and I hope his relay team does well :)

From the footage I saw, it appears very likely that the skater Apolo touched would have gone down anyway -- the contact seemed not a factor.

After he did such a good job dodging downed skaters in the qualifying rounds, it's unfortunate that he was unable to take a medal in the event.

Exactly! The man was already going down, Apolo's hand being up to protect himself didn't factor into it.
And then if you watch the relay race, you'll see one of the Canadians CLEARLY put his hand on Apolo's hip, causing him to slip. Luckily he's a pro and was able to catch himself and make bronze. He probably would have made a higher ranking though if it weren't for the slip.

Thanx NightGaze, took the words right out of my mouth...I really couldn't believe that he was DQ'd!...it was such a bad call on the ref's part,I mean the guy was evidently going to fall, its just a ridiculous idea that Apollo Ohno's hand was in way shape or form to blame for the Canadians slip up(no offence to any Canadians-love you guys) and if it was the other way around I would be defending the Canadian who's hand went up to block himself, not the American who fell-if you see what I mean...

ohkay, Blue-eyes....really if there was any indication that Apollo Ohno had intentionally pushed that guy, I would not be here defending his honor not only as an Olympic Gold Medalist but as an American as well. Apollo Ohno is a beyond amazingly great athlete and has given no reason to be thought of otherwise.....so please re-check your facts next time your insult a country & one of its most beloved athlete's.

I am not the one insulting a Country. Americans do that enough for the rest of the world.

No one here said anything about insulting other coutries. And I'm offended that you stereotype all Americans in that manner. I don't insult other countries, I think they're cool.
So maybe you should stop judging, blue-eyes.

He should not have been DQ'd he is an amazing racer and like most people are saying, the Canadian would have fallen down even if Apolo didn't put his hand up.

People are obviously biased when it comes to this question. Americans will say no and Canadians will say yes. I'm in no way an way and expert on speed skating and the rules that govern it but watch this
video closely

Apolo Ohno actually had his hand on François-Louis Tremblay's hip, maybe gave him a little push, not sure, but that looks to me to be what caused Tremblay to fall. I have nothing against Apolo or Americans in general, but I honestly think he deserved to be DQed in that race.

Ps. Charles Hamelin's celebration with Marianne was priceless (the little love tap on the butt) :)
