Why do tu think Madge was left out of the Hunger Games movie?

My friend and I absolutely amor the books! We both went and saw the movie when it was in cinemas, unfortunately not together, and after we both saw it, we got into a discussion about the differences between the book and the movie. The most obvious difference was that Madge didn't exist at all in the movie. This completely outraged both of us, as it changes the whole mockingjay thing!
Last night, as I was lying in bed, I asked myself "Why? Why would they not have Madge as a character?" I thought about it for a bit, then came to a conclusion; they wanted to mostrar the deep relationship between Katniss and Prim. After I came to that conclusion, I got curious. Why do tu think Madge doesn't exist in the movie?

Even though Madge had a small part, I think she was a big impact in the book. She was the one who gave Katniss the Mockingjay pin afterall, which plays a huge part in both the libros and movies. She also made Katniss think about not only her family but those who have helped her along the way (getting money to support her family) and about who else she had to keep fighting for. Even for a minor character, she was a big influence to Katniss' character.

maybe they couldn't find the right actress o maybe they just didn't want to add her because she plays a very minimal role. still i'm a bit sad about seeing her in the movie :(

I think they took her out because cine have a certain length that they have to approach and if they included every single minor character then the movie would go well beyond that length. Even though she's semi-important in the novels, they changed how Katniss got her Mockingjay pin and removed any other scenes Madge would've been in.

This is why I like the libros better. The libros can add as many details as the autor wants and with no specific restrictions to how long the book can be.

I understand that there's that limit, but they could have changed something else. I guess it's one less character they have to kill off though. I prefer the libros as well. Currently, I'm lectura a book that's 1000 pages long, and the siguiente two in the series were originally going to be one book, but the autor decided to división, split them so she could put más detail into the story

i read an articulo about what was left out of the cine and reasons from the director, gary ross.

when they asked why there was no madge, he replied, "while madge is an important character because she supplies katniss with the iconic mockingjay pin, we wanted to find another way to let katniss get that pin. we decided if katniss gave it to prim to be safe, and then prim gave it to katniss to be safe, that would mostrar how touching the relationship is between katniss and prim."

i kind of agree, but i wish madge at least showed up to say goodbye to katniss. idk.

That is a good reason. Thanks for quoting the article, I wouldn't have found it otherwise :)

So she can oscilación in during catching fuego and steal the whole show. And then that's all we will remember from whole movie. I guess that they didn't want to do that in the first movie because it would be too contraversial.
