Why the heck would she kill him? He's her mentor, he has helped Peeta and Katniss survive both of the Hunger Games they have been through

She'll probably try when she lets him babysit and he gives her kids alcohol because they're being too loud. Then Peeta will try to hold her back which will give Haymitch the opportunity to pass out drunk.
