Not Your Typical Country Girl Chapter Forty Four
"You have officially been caught up on everything that has been going on since Wednesday night." I dicho to Isaiah as sniffed.
"I'm really sorry about Midnight Moon, I can imagine how much tu cared bout him!" He dicho sympathetic.
"It doesn't matter. He was just a horse." I mumbled lying.
He wasn't just a horse. Midnight Moon was my horse.
I ordered my comida and took a asiento at one of the picnic tables.
"You don't have to act like that. It's okay to mostrar grief over him." Isaiah dicho as he sat down across from me.
"I'm fine." I said.
"Okay. If tu dicho so." Isaiah dicho as he saw through me. "Do tu mind if I pray before we eat?"
"Nah, go ahead." I dicho I started to bow my head.
"When I pray over a meal and someone is with me, I usually hold hands with the person." He stated. "Is that okay?"
"Umm... Sure." I dicho as I put my hands in his.
It felt odd. I mean we pray at inicial when we eat but this just felt different. He held my hands, we bowed our heads, and closed out eyes.
"Dear Heavenly Father, we thank tu for this beautiful día that tu have dado us. We thank tu from saving us from hell where we really belong. We thank tu for this comida and please bless it to our bodies." Isaiah said. "Thank tu so much for allowing Harmony to accept tu into her life, Lord! Please keep everyone seguro through the rodeo tonight. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."
I took a bite to eat since I was pretty hungry.
"I forgot some napkins. I will be right back." Isaiah stated.
I looked up at him and he looked as if he was going to cry. I could tell he meant every word of his prayer. The end of that prayer was filled with so much emotions. Especially, when he prayed about me. It was almost like he had been praying for me.
"How did tu come so comfortable praying?" I asked when he sat back down.
"Well, I've been praying since I was little. Before I accepted God into my heart, I had heard others pray." He said. "I've always been around people praying. It's was natural, nothing to be embarrassed about."
"Oh." I replied.
"Why is it embarrassing to you?" He asked before he took a bite to eat.
"No, just kinda awkward sometimes. I've only prayed out loud once." I dicho meekly.
"That's alright. tu will get use to it." He said. "I'm surprised tu even came with me today."
"Why do tu say that? We go to rodeos all the time together." I dicho confused.
"Yeah, but with Clay leaving and all." He dicho as I cut him off.
"What are tu talking about?" I asked confused and concerned.
"Oh, Clay didn't tell you?" He asked.
"Tell me what?" I asked as I stood up.
"He's leaving for basic tomorrow." Isaiah dicho as I pried it out of him.
"I will be right back." I dicho full of anger.
I got my cellphone from the truck and dialed Clay's number.
"Hey Harmony, everything okay?" Clay asked when he picked up.
"Not right now! How come tu didn't tell me tu were leaving tomorrow?" I asked angry.
"I tried but tu have been having such a terrible day." He said. "I just didn't want to make it worse. I had no idea that tu were going off today o I would have told tu sooner."
"I didn't know either! But now I won't get to spend anytime with tu before tu leave!" I dicho losing back tears. "I am two hours away. How am I suppose to get back to you?"
"It's okay! We can spend time together in the morning." He dicho as if that was enough time.
"You think that's enough time?" I asked. "I can't believe tu would go through with this!"
"Harmony, we have gone over this. This is God's will for my life." Clay reminded me. "It will be okay. I won't be gone for that long."
"Whatever. I've got to go." I dicho coldly.
I ran my fingers through my hair and let out a deep breath. I wasn't hungry anymore; I felt like I could throw up. My corazón sunk. I had the most terrible feeling in my gut. I wiped away tears and walked towards Isaiah's truck. The tears just kept coming and there was nothing I could do about it. I sat inside the horse trailer. It was hot but that didn't matter right now.
"Harmony?" Isaiah's voice sounded worried when he spoke.
"I'm fine." I stated as I sniffed and wiped the remainder of the tears away.
"You don't have to push me away. I'm here for you." He dicho as he tried to comfort me.
Every single thing in my body was telling me to just push him away but something different inside of me was telling to stop.
I stood up and wrapped my arms around his neck and the tears start flowing again. I was embarrassed for anyone to see me like this but I just couldn't help it anymore.
I finally dried the tears up and ate my food. Not long after I finished eating it was time to start the rodeo. They did a brief introduction of riders and then prayed. I was finally able to breath once I got behind the chutes.
There was a familiar face sitting in the chutes.
"Jack?" I called out unsure.
"Yeah?" The guy dicho as he turned around. "Who are you?"
"I am Harmony Barrow. Well Harmony Ford now." I dicho nervous. "If you're the Jack I know, we were in the same foster home."
"My word!" He dicho as he jumped down. "You look so different!"
"It's the hair." I dicho embarrassed. "The last time tu saw me, it was jet black and well, my clothes were too."
"You have changed. Whatcha been up to since I left?" He asked curiously.
"Not long after tu left they arrested Mr. Bert for hold abuse. I then went through 2 group home, I got adopted 3 time and then they changed their minds, so I went back to another foster home, and finally got adopted por the really nice family." I said.
"How did they catch Mr. Bert? Well, that's great!" He dicho happily.
"A few of us missed school for a week and a half and they sent a cop out there to check on us." I said. "What have tu been up to?"
"Just on the rodeo circuit. I want to go pro." Jack dicho as he shrugged his shoulders.
"That's great!" I said.
"Hey Jack, it's good to see you." Isaiah dicho as they shook hands.
"I'm good. Just catching up with a really good friend." Jack stated.
"Wait, tu know Harmony?" Isaiah asked shocked.
"How is she your girlfriend?" Jack asked surprised. "I never thought she would let anyone in."
I glared at him.
"No, I am her brothers' best friend." Isaiah said. "She hasn't let anyone in yet."
"Whatever." I muttered.
"So how do tu too know each other?" Isaiah asked curiously.
"We were in a group inicial together. We were really close before I took off." Jack dicho full of confidence.
I didn't really want anyone knowing about my past. But that was out in the open now.
"Oh cool." Isaiah dicho unsure of what to say.
"Harmony was a great deism but if I could change that time in my life. I would." Jack said. "No offense Harmony."
"No taken! I just wish I would have gone with you." I said. "How did tu manage to stay out the system?"
"I moved around too much for anyone to ask questions." Jack stated. "Hey let's carry this conversation on another time. Me and Isaiah have some Bulls to ride!"
"Jack, you're not going to win." I dicho as I put my hand on his shoulder.
"Why is that?" He asked confused.
"Cause, you're riding against me." I informed him.
"Tell me she's jokin'!" Jack pleaded.
"Sorry man, but unfortunately not." Isaiah said.
"Don't worry, I can still beat you!" Jack said.
"We will see bout that!" I dicho smiling.
I had several people I. Front of me before it was actually my turn. Not many people were staying in tonight. That made me really nervous.
It was finally my turn. I got really to go and the chute opens. The toro just stands there. He finally started moving but he stayed almost inside the chute. He bucked my off and I fell right in the chute were he had his head. It was por the Grace of God he didn't touch me. Just like that my night was over.
I got behind the chutes and walked outside. I threw my hat down in disgust. I bent down on knee and asked for forgiveness and thanked God for keeping safe. I stood back up and Jack came up to saying I got a another ride. The judges were going to allow me to ride again.
"Thank tu Lord!" I dicho as I looked toward the starry sky.
Isaiah came to me with his vest and helmet. He wanted me to start wearing them. He had mentioned it before but I told him I didn't want to. He insisted this time that I wear it.
I ran back to the chutes and got on my segundo toro for the night. Everything felt fine. This was going to be a good ride. I remember were my feet are suppose to go and were my hand was suppose to go. I took a deep breath and the chute door flew open. This toro made a leap out of the chute and start twisting and turning is almost every direction. This was the toughest ride I had ever been on. These eight segundos were the longest ones yet. Finally the buzzard went off very loudly. I loosened my grip and jumped off the bull. He saw me from the corner of his eye and ran full force into me. I scrambled to get to my feet. But he knocked me right back down. I was looking up at the sky now but I then saw his head and the I felt him step on my chest. It hurt a bunch. He came around with his head and scrubbed me I to the dirt even more. I didn't see the rodeo clowns anywhere. I felt like I was on my own. Once more, the bull's head came back around and pick me up. I landed with a thud and everything went black.
"You have officially been caught up on everything that has been going on since Wednesday night." I dicho to Isaiah as sniffed.
