Not Your Typical Country Girl Chapter Forty
I felt like we were going to be in so much trouble. We missed church. I had only missed one church service since I started here. Now I didn't want to miss a single one. I finally understood why they wanted to serve this God. I could see how there is God now. I was stupid before. I was ignorant. Everything was right in front of me. It was in plain sight and I just couldn't see it. But everything was different now. It was a good different.
Clay pulled off from the side of the rode and headed somewhere. I didn't ask where. I enjoyed looking out the window and realizing what an amazing God He is. I mean just look at all the different trees. They were beautiful; they were are different shades of green. They sky was vibrant blue and the clouds were white and fluffy. Maybe the fluffiest clouds I have ever seen.
"Do tu mind sitting here," Clay asked, "I have to go explain some thing to Maggie."
"Not at all," I said, "I kinda messed things up between y'all!"
"If she can't understand why then she's not for me," he said.
I watched as he got out of the truck and looked down at his feet. He looked nervous. I don't think I've ever seen Clay nervous before. It was kind of weird. He got to the door, he hesitated to knock, but finally got the courage up to knock.
She looked kinda of mad o concerned. Maybe both? I watched as he pointed back at the truck. She peered around him and I smiled and waved. She jerked herself back in front of Clay. It was almost like she thought he was lying. Then all the sudden he was walking back to the truck.
"Is she mad," I asked worried.
"Not at all," he grinned, "she's going to come over for while and we're gonna hangout."
"Okay good," I dicho as I got out the truck.
I hopped in the backseat as she came out of the front door.
"Maggie this is my sister Harmony," Clay said.
"It's so nice to meet you! Clay has told me so much about you," she dicho in the most bubbly southern accent I have ever heard.
"Uh oh, I hope it's all good things," I said, "it's nice to meet tu too."
"Clay told me that tu just got saved," she beamed, "I'm so happy for you!"
"Umm, thanks," I dicho awkwardly.
I had no idea what to say when she dicho that. Am I suppose to be nice and say thank you? What does a person say when someone says something like?
"Has Abigail texted you," I asked, "I bet they are furious at us."
"Don't worry, we will smooth everything over when we get home," Clay said.
"Mkay," I dicho unsure.
We missed church. There was no way of justifying it so Abigail and Bryce will not be mad. I will probably get grounded o something. I hope they don't take away my riding privileges! That would be awful.
We got to the house and I waited For Clay and Maggie to get out of the truck. I sure don't want to face Abigail and Bryce por myself.
"We'll be inside in second," Clay dicho as he pulled me from my thoughts, "you go on in."
"Okay," I said.
Exactly what I didn't want to do....
I jumped out of the truck and slowly walked towards the house. Maybe I could just sneak to the barn. That would be a great idea and if I needed to get away, I could always jump on Midnight Moon. He would take off for sure.
I got Midnight Moon out of the granero and let him in the field so he could eat some grass.
"Harmony, please come inside," Bryce's voice boomed from the backdoor.
"Yes sir,” I mumbled.
I felt like I was in so much trouble. Surely I was not in trouble. This is what they wanted all along was for me to enjoy going to church, to get saved, and to live like them. Right?
I made my way towards the house. I got to the mud room and took my boots off. I didn’t need to get in trouble for getting mud in the house
“Where is Clay and Maggie,” he asked as I came in the kitchen.
“They are coming inside,” I said.
“How come y’all did not come to church,” he asked very stern.
“Clay was mostrando me how to get saved,” I dicho shyly.
“Oh,” Abigail dicho as she looked at Bryce.
“You asked jesús into your heart,” Bryce dicho as he made a quick glance at Abigail.
“Yeah,” I dicho as my cheeks flushed red from embarrassment.
“Oh, that is wonderful news,” Abigail dicho as she started crying, “there is nothing to be embarrassed about it. This is wonderful!”
Abigail came over to me and wrapped her arms around me very tightly. Once she let go, Bryce gave me a side huge. It was awkward; I haven’t ever hugged Bryce before. I guess there is going to be a lot of stuff I am going to learn.
“Congratulations Harmony; I am so happy for tu and your choice to follow Jesus,” Bryce said.
“Um, me too. Well, I am going to go change into my pajamas,” I dicho quickly.
That was kind of weird. Their whole demeanor changed when I told them I got saved. Instead of getting in trouble, I got praise for missing church. I guess it was okay to miss church to get saved.
I heard the back door open as I headed towards the living room.
“Hey Maggie,” Abigail dicho as her voice faded away.
I put on my comfiest pajamas I could find. I could probably sleep right now. It surprised me that I am as tired as I am. But, I headed downstairs to be nice and talk to the family.
“Hey Harmony, do tu want some sweet tea,” Abigail asked.
“No thanks. I’m fixin’ to head to bed,” I stated.
“Oh; are tu feeling okay,” she asked worried.
“I’m fine. Getting thrown off tired me out,” I shrugged.
“Okay,” she dicho smiling.
I walked outside and Clay and Maggie were sitting on the swing.
“Oh, sorry,” I dicho as I turned around.
“You can registrarse us,” Maggie said.
“It’s alright,” I said, “thank tu though. I’m just heading to bed. Goodnight y’all. amor tu Clay.”
“Love tu too,” Clay dicho as the biggest grin came across his face.
“Night,” Maggie dicho smiling.
I told everyone goodnight and headed to my room. I hopped on my cama on parte superior, arriba of the covers. It was a warm night and very warm in the upstairs bedrooms.
[i]Hi God. I’m not really good at this praying thing. But I guess I’l get better. I wanted to tell tu thank tu for saving me and loving me. Oh, thank tu for my family. They’re really nice. Amen.[i/]
I woke up in panic when I heard Midnight Moon neighing in the field. I had left him out! I ran out of my bedroom and met Clay in the hall.
“Stay here,” he ordered.
“No, I forgot to put Midnight Moon up,” I said, “I’m sorry! I’ll do it.”
“No, stay here,” he dicho as we headed downstairs.
“Why do tu have a gun,” I asked.
“There are coyotes outside,” he said.
“Okay,” I said, “why do tu need a gun?”
“I’ll be back,” Clay said.
“Harmony stay in here,” Bryce dicho as he ran past me.
He was already dressed like the día was just starting. Come to think of it; almost everyone was dress
As soon as Bryce walked out of the door, Lance, Finn, and Dustin were headed outside.
“Harmony, why don’t tu go back to bed,” Abigail dicho as she looked exhausted.
“No, I left Midnight Moon out in the field and I have to put him up,” I stated.
I walked to the back porch and put my boots on. I looked out towards the field and saw Midnight Moon. I could barely see the boys out there. I heard a gunshot and their perros barking. Then, I didn’t see Midnight Moon. I hope he didn’t run off into the woods.
