What would be your reaction if tu found out Maria was still alive?

I would be disappointed. Maria, if she was found to still be alive, I would be very unhappy. Maria would not make sense to be alive. She had a disease that would kill her. She also would be over sixty years old if she was some how able to over come her incurable disease.

In short, I think it'd be horrible if some canon story made her still be alive today. It'd be too much of a hope and too unlikely [Pretty well Mary Sue like chance] that it'd really ruin Shadow and his back story and present for me.

This is coming from someone who does like Maria Robotnik. She has a lot of things humanity needs in her and she was such an innocent yet strong character, but I would be disappointed por her being alive.
