Everett flipped the calendar page from January to February one mild winter morning, wondering why something felt más significant about February than it did every other year. Then his eye wandered down the page to the fourteenth, and he laughed and shook his head. Of course, he reminded himself. Most years, he didn't think too much about Valentine's día beyond giving his parents a call and wishing them a happy one. But this año was different. This would be the first Valentine's día that he and Una would spend together.
Everett's heartbeat quickened. He had to do something big for Una - something extra special. Something as bold and extravagant as Una herself. This was his chance to ducha, ducha de her with gifts and affection and let her know just how much he loved her.
So what should he do for her? Everett began to pace his kitchen, deep in thought. flores and candy, perhaps? Well - maybe for a start, but that couldn't be all he did for Una. A nice romantic movie? cine were special to both him and Una, what with her wanting to be an actress and his wanting to be a film editor, and they had bonded a lot over favourite films in the months they had been together. But that was just the trouble. A movie was something they could go and see any old time; it wasn't anything new o different. Everett had to do something for Una that would mostrar her how much care and attention she was worth, how much she meant to him. Whatever he came up with had to be perfect.
"This movie sounds so good," Una Stratton remarked with a heavy sigh, scrolling through an online TV guide while her mother sat nearby in an sillón reading. "It's supposed to be one of the best romances of the decade!"
Mrs. Stratton looked up, concerned. "That doesn't sound like my daughter when she's looking adelante, hacia adelante to seeing a movie."
Una turned around. "Yeah. I missed it in theatres and I've had a really hard time finding it available anywhere. They're mostrando it on TV for one night this month," she added with another sigh, "on Valentine's Day."
Mrs. Stratton set down her book. "Well, why don't tu see it then?"
Una laughed. "Because I'm not spending Valentine's día alone this year, Mother, remember? This is my first Valentine's día with Everett!"
Mrs. Stratton smiled. "Of course I remember, Una, honey." Mrs. Stratton was very fond of Everett. "Why does that mean tu and he can't watch the movie?"
Una gave a long, dramatic sigh. "Because it's our first Valentine's Day. He's probably planning something big and spectacular. He probably has a plan all figured out, and I'm not going to call him up and tell him I don't want whatever he's planning! Besides," she added más softly now, "I do want whatever he has planned. He chose it specially for me."
Mrs. Stratton smiled to see how happy her daughter sounded whenever Everett came up. "Well, as long as tu two are happy with whatever tu end up doing," she said, taking up her book again, "that's all that matters."
