​One Direction\'s decision to go on hiatus was "unanimous", according to the boys themselves.
The group said in an interview with Alan Carr on
 that it had been a crazy few years and they all just needed a break from their busy schedules.
"Yeah, I think we are all on the same page," said Louis Tomlinson. "We know how intense it\'s been and could do with a little break."
Liam Payne said the first thing he wants to do is spend time catching up with his family, though he added it won\'t be long before they\'ll get "bored" and all be back working.
Lady C talks about Duncan\'s "teensy-weensy" bits
"We all do the songwriting thing and that is going to be the thing that keeps us within doing the stuff that we love too. It\'s just the stage we have to miss," he said.
The host then reminded Louis that as Simon Cowell hasn\'t got any acts left in
, he might want to rethink a career move onto the panel next year.
"That is true. I hadn\'t really thought about that. Thanks for the morale boost," he replied.
Niall Horan fancies doing "a little bit of travelling", and Harry Styles would like to confirm he\'s 
going to become an estate agent and hasn\'t yet recorded a solo album.
Harry said: "No. We all write kind of separately and for other people and do stuff and bring it back, and that is it really."
They said the break won\'t be forever though, with Louis suggesting they "give it 18 months" and see what happens.
