To me there couldn't have been a better musical/movie around I thought P/O/T/O was good but when Russell Crowe sings both Stars and his soliloquy I felt like clapping his singing was fantastic, who agrees? It was great too having Colm Wilkinson in it as you couldn't leave out the original Jean Valjean in a movie of the show he made!

I thought Russell Crowe's voice wasn't right for the part. He's not a musical singer. I also thought that Eddie Redmayne's voice sounded like Kermit the Frog when singing.

Other than that, it was fine.

@ 1musicalgal -Yes, the original Valjean, Eponine, AND Cosette! I do agree, Russell Crowe wasn't as bad as everyone seems to think he is! (I mean no-one can beat Philip Quast imo but still)
It was Amazing and Epic and so much more, but it was also depressing. I mean, I tell all my friends to see and they come back after and say "Why didn't you tell me everyone dies?!?!?!?!" And though it does go for nearly 3 hours, some of the best songs/parts of songs were cut!!! Grantaire's solo in Drink With Me, most of Turning, and many others ;(.
@ dustfinger - I have heard many weird and wacky (and funny) things describing Eddie Redmayne's voice, but I think Kermit the Frog is definitly a first!
I loved Samantha Barks, and everyone else, they all did so brilliantly! But Sam is special to me, gives me the most emotions when being Eponine.

I thought it was very good but had a few depressing spots, Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen to me were bad choices as they didn't have singing voices, Would've Preferred Aaron Tveit as Marius instead of Enjolras Eddie Redmayne's voice wasn't really up to standard for such a big role but I don't think I'd have said Kermit the frog either and each to their own even though people really rate Russell Crowe down to me he would have been the best male singer in the cast!

It's my fave movie ever, but as a HUGE Les Miz fan i gotta say that 10th and 25th anniversary concerts were better:) as a movie, amazing, but vocally as a musical there have been better productions

Being as bigger fan of Les Mis as I have been all these years nothing really made me think WOW! It was good I wish that Michael Ball and Judy kuhn had sung the roles of Cosette and Marius so Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmayne could've just acted the roles.

One of the better movies based on a stage show. I generally prefer live shows, but this one was good. I was also pleasantly surprised at everyone's performances in the film; before seeing it I'd heard a lot of negativity and criticism towards some of the actors and, more specifically, their singing voices. Especially with Russell Crowe. None of my friends liked him. I personally thought he did a great job.

Of course it is a depressing film too but, let's face it, the musical (and storyline) is depressing anyway. If the film hadn't been depressing, the director would've been doing something very wrong!

The cast did a great job; I'm sure it was emotionally draining!
And for the record...
Russell Crowe was NOT as bad as people say he was

Russell Crowe to me is who made the movie he's a great actor and is an awesome singer too I think he was the only actor/actress who should've been elected for any academy/grammy etc awards.

Russell Crowe Was Awesome I Don't Know Why So Many People Thought He Was That Bad & If They Took Out The Song Suddenly As Well As Sacha Baron Cohen & Eddie Redmayne & Put Aaron Teveit In The Role Of Marius & Put Dominic Cooper From Mamma Mia In The Role Of Enjolras. I Would Have Gone Back To See It More Than Once.
