To me, Tarrant acts like the Father figure. He cares for her in any way he can and he immediatly knew that it was her when she went to visit him.
I know, they're ARE romantic sparks, but if anything that's their love and appreciation for eachother.

It was pretty apparent that Hatter had a 'thing' for Alice. And as we all know, a romance was originally supposed to happen. Even though he decided to cut it out of the film, Burton obviously left in the romantic chemistry between them.
Also, anyone who read the original script, how EXACTLY did the kiss happen? I never read the script, so... yeah. lol.

Romantic. i think that it was more pre romance though. there was defentaily mutal sexual and romantic sparks between them, and if she'd stayed, there's no doubt in my mind that it would've developed into real love.

Romantic. I was really hoping that she would kiss him before she left. But the two of them would make a beautiful couple.

I was waiting and waiting for them to kiss... but they never did. =( I was hoping that as she was leaving Underland he would kiss her so his lips would be her last memory of Underland.

They should've made it happen in the movie. That would have been really cool. :)

I think it is forbiden love. not by any certain person. but if they were to make a second movie it would seem forbiden as he has known her since she was little (and we all know he has a major thing for her) and she may not see him like that. they would be restricted by there own personal barriers... I LOVE THEMM. so very cutee xx (oh yes and i cant wait for the deleted scenes to see the kiss scene :d its going to be soooo awesomeee and MAJORLY CUTE AND SWEET AND BEAUTIFULL,, please make a sequel burton *crosses fingers*)

I've read the original script and they should have used that.

I think there are more between them not just friendship or father-daughter relationship. I think, Tarrant loves Alice from the bottom of his heart. And Alice has feelings toward Tarrant as well.
