Do you ever wake up in a cold sweat wondering if Lorde’s
was just a lovely, lucid figment of your imagination? Same.
Since releasing her acclaimed debut album in 2013, Lorde’s kept relatively quiet on the music front, save for a feature on a Disclosure track and a David Bowie tribute performance. And while there’s still no announcement about when to expect her sophomore LP, she’s finally resurfaced thanks to a co-writing credit for indie pop duo (and fellow New Zealanders) Broods.
With its intimate lyrics and swelling synths, “Heartlines” sounds like it would be right at home on
. But Broods — comprised of siblings Georgia and Caleb Nott — make the track uniquely their own, giving us an instantly satisfying song to obsess over (until the Lorde Drought is over, at the very least).
Prior to its premiere on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show on Thursday, Lorde shared her excitement about the song, and Broods even tweeted its handwritten lyrics.
