Things like this take time. Look at the history of the civil rights movement. It took over a century for them to get what they want (abolitionists existed in the antebellum period, and interracial marriage was not recognized until 1967). I think if we're patient and persistent, we can change the world. Even if it takes a hundred more years.

EDIT: Keep in mind that, in comparison to the civil rights movement, the gay rights movement has only really been in full swing since the sixties. So it's fairly young. Patience is key.

Maybe not in are life time... but someday.

I really, really, truly hope it does happen soon. But I live in idaho, and atleast 90% of the people I know are extremely against same-sex marriage. it makes me sad.

Marriage is a basic human right. You should not be denied it or discriminated against just because of the gender of your partner. I have no idea why so many people are against it, I guess they're just ignorant. But I am confident that gay marriage is going to be legalized, maybe not in my lifetime, but it will happen. Ideas are changing, tradition is changing. Change takes time, though, so it might not happen anytime soon.

I know it will happen one day. We as a nation are becoming more and more tolerant as the years go on. We are becoming more open minded and we are looking past skin color, religion, and sexual orientation. And I am confident that one day all LGBT people will be treated with the same respect heterosexuals are, it's just going to take some time. Look at what African Americans had to face in their time, and the Native Americans. There has always been one form of racism or another that all of us have had to overcome. And I know we shall also overcome this. People fear or hate the things that they do not understand. But what these people need to realize is that LGBT people are people, living human beings with feelings. And gender doesn't matter when your in love. Love is a beautiful thing, no matter who you share it with. Marriage means taking a vow to love one person and only one person for the rest of your life, and yet a lot of heterosexuals take that right for granted. They cheat, and lie, and beat their significant others. They fall in love one day, and are getting divorced the next. LGBT's aren't allowed such privileges, so when they couple, it is usually for the long run. So you tell me, where is the real injustice here? Who is more worthy of such a basic human right? How can we decide such a thing? And where does love fit in when we are deciding who can and cannot marry? Straight people think LGBT's are dirty, perverse, disgusting, or "brainwashed" But they do not stop to think of how a gay person may feel about straight peoples sexual orientation. To a gay person, being gay is as normal as a heterosexual being heterosexual.

Something just tells me it won't.

It will take some time but I think it will happen.

The problems we are going through in America now are the exact same things that women and African Americans went through a century before. Intolerance will never disappear entirely, but the laws CAN and WILL change.
