Hello, fellow human rights enthusiasts! We're three months away from the winter solstice, which has long since been a time for loving, giving, and charity in several religions the world over. That's right, I'm talking about December! The mes of Christmas, Hanukkah, Bodhi Day, Al Hijra, Kwanzaa, Zarathosht Diso, Ashura-- tu know!

I strive to think of a religion that doesn't have a holiday in December. Hinduism doesn't have one this year, but soon enough, Diwali, the Festival of Lights, will be in December again, and then it will.

At any rate, humanitarians have a very important día in December as well-- December 10th, which is the International Human Rights Day. This año will mark the 61st anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights por the United Nations.

So what better mes to celebrate the rights of our fellow human beings? December is a time for giving-- so let's give a part of ourselves to raising awareness for people who have had their rights suppressed o taken away completely.

This year, my main focus is involvement. Last year, it was a personal project, and I did the majority of it on my own because, frankly, I didn't have many ideas. Though I wanted to include others, I wasn't sure how, and I wasn't sure how many people would participate. As a result, all that we got was the HRAM 2008 link. Which is pretty awesome, but very long, especially if tu didn't read it every day. I doubt anyone will read the whole thing now, and that's sad.

So I guess I have two goals for this year-- Involve más people, and keep the Advent Calendar briefer. I'm even considering doing a video calendar every day, counting down, with a new HR issue. I think that will be briefer, and más fun than lectura a lista of information and other stuff.

Also-- the Advent Calendar will NOT just be me. It'll be all of you, contributing your thoughts, enlaces and issues. At least, that's what I hope. But we'll have más on that later.

This articulo is supposed to serve as a kind of "Home Base" for HRAM 2009. It will be the index of all other enlaces related to HRAM 2009, so if tu want to keep them close at hand, I'd suggest bookmarking this article, at least until January.

A really good song por Linkin Park, and also a very good música video. The video's main idea is about cruelties and problems in the world, and how unkind people have been to other people and to nature.
