returns tonight at 10:00 p.m. on ABC and we’ve got all the spoilers we could dig up for the rest of the season, including some sneak peek videos. The mid-season premiere episode is titled “Hello Raskolnikov” and the synopsis reads: As the search for Sam begins, it is uncertain how much Annalise knows about what really happened; a surprise visitors creates complications for the students. And, for episode two, the title is “Best Christmas Ever” and the official plot states: After holiday break, the students are questioned by police about Sam’s death; Annalise tries to behave normally and takes on a new client who is in the mob.
Showrunner Pete Nowalk opens up to TIME about what the focus of the rest of the season is and he states:
The second half of this season is all about how are they going to get away with this murder they actually committed. All the sudden they’re feeling guilt and paranoia and fear and distrust of their friends. Is anyone’s going to confess or are they actually going to get away with this? I think these students came to school pretty naive and we’re going to watch them become much more grown up in a way that they probably don’t even want to be.
Star Viola Davis talked about the rest of the season to People, saying:
I think it’s a continuation of that adrenaline, of the mystery, of the intrigue. I don’t think it lets up. I just think it reaches a whole different level and height, and as it progresses you’re going to really see who these people are.
You’ll see as the season goes on and the murder mystery progresses, she loses her kind of outward demeanor more [and] you’ll see that vulnerability really bubbling over.
Creator and executive producer Pete Nowalk tells TVGuide a few things about the new episodes coming up, stating:
The second half of the season is really about seeing if they can get away with it and what Annalise would do to accomplish that. We’ve got some hopefully really great, exciting twists that people won’t see coming.
Actor Jack Falahee chimed in about the character Connor, revealing:
Connor raises the point that now that [Sam’s] the prime suspect, there might be more of a microscope on him and the house. … I think that’s what makes the second half [of the season] so riveting. They sustain this tension over the course of the next six episodes. It’s the added pressure of potentially having police going through the house.
Liza Weil opened up to People about the betrayals going on this season, revealing:
I think that the theme of the back five episodes is that everybody is really starting to now sort of come undone. More layers are being peeled away and people are more vulnerable. I think loyalties are questioned and people are going to start betraying each other. So all of that stuff is going to come into play and how that affects Bonnie will certainly be shown.
As far as Lila’s murder goes, TVGuide reports that it will be resolved by the end of the season and the paternity of her baby will also be revealed. TVGuide writes:
Since Annalise was going to turn Sam in and tell police that he had known Lila was pregnant, she sure could use confirmation that it was his baby to strengthen her cover-up story.
Showrunner Pete Nowalk reveals that the person you may think killed Lila is not the murderer, explaining to TIME:
In the first half, it was who killed Sam? And now we know who killed Sam. Now there’s still the mystery of who killed Lila. They killed Sam because he killed Lila, and now we really need to find out if that’s true.
The guest stars expected this season include Marcia Gay Harden and Cicely Tyson, according to Karla Souza, who plays Laurel Castillo.
