PLEASE stop adding reasons! The pick should say "yes" and "no"

The sorting hat is never wrong.

Well, the Sorting Hat wanted to send him to Slytherin. Harry had all the qualities : cunning, resourcefulness, determination, a strong will to survive. Heck, you have to have all this to survive the Dursleys !

Read carefully the books. Sometimes, Harry acts like a Slytherin, with cleverness and cunning. He's also a very observing kid, something akin to resourcefulness and which helped him survive all his odds (even if his friends and Severus saved him a few times).

Which shows that Slytherins can have positive attitudes and qualities, and can do great when these are put to good use. Harry, Severus and Dumbledore are good examples of this. Thank you Harry for proving we Slytherins can be wonderful folks too !

Well, he did have Slytherin qualities but I think the Sorting Hat made the right choice to send him to Gryffindor. In the second book, he pulled the sword of Gryffindor out of the hat. And like Dumbledore said, only a true Gryffindor could pull that out of the hat.

For one it's more intresting for seconds, Harry was ment to be there the sorting hat puyt him in Gryffendor simply because he wanted to be there.

Harry could have been in Slytherin, but I think it's obvious that his loyalty and courage shove him into Gryffindor.

The Battle of Hogwarts could have happened whether Harry was in Slytherin or Gryffindor. Although the house prejudice would've played a big part in it, it WOULD have been interesting to see him fighting against his own housemates.

I wasn't trying to be rude. I was merely trying to defend the fact that Harry truly has the traits of a Gryffindor, and he didn't just get in simply because he wanted to.

i think it could have gon either way but harry chose to be a griff and albus dumbledore said "it is our choice that show who we are far mor than our abilities."

I can't really see him as a Slytherin. It'd be weird

I see him as a Gryffindor always, but sometimes I wonder what would have happened had he been in Slytherin.

His Slytherin part was a Voldemort's part, which has been destroyed in the final battle. So I think he's always a Gryffindor.
