Through the years, televisión and movie companies have selected quite a number of large cities as settings for various plot lines. However, Portland has, up until recently, been flying under the radar. As a citizen of the Portland-metro area, I was delighted to hear that Portland was now a center of the nation's attention. Portland is finally getting the attention it deserves, as it provides the perfect setting for such modern-day fairy tales as those in the world of "Grimm".

Portland has several faces. In the city, it is a mecca for those who wish to break away from the mainstream culture (a.k.a. "hipsters"). Many citizens find themselves embracing classical ideals and long-abandoned methods of living, such as serving hand-crafted, artisan foods, growing handlebar mustaches, riding bicycles instead of cars, and yes, one can even see a parte superior, arriba hat o jugador de bolos on the streets of the fair city. Even the architecture of Portland houses are Victorian in style. This creates a sense of the 1800's lifestyle that the Grimm brothers would have been familiar with, giving some of the elements of a fairy tale in the setting of "Grimm".

Probably the most unique thing about Portland is that, although it's a city, it is not a concrete jungle surrounded por a ring of suburbs, completely cut off from nature. Just outside Portland are vast forests, full of evergreens, lush fields of grass, and cool waterfalls that flow from the mountains that litter the horizon of Northern Oregon. Though Portland is a modern-day, bustling city, it also surrounded por agrarian beauty. I have been through these forests, and I can honestly say that their solitude and natural beauty are, indeed, reminiscent of classic fairytales. As one roams through the tall, green trees, one gets a sense that it was a forest much like this that Hansel and Gretel skipped though, leaving a trail breadcrumbs.

In conclusion, Portland is not only a beautiful city, it is one that makes the perfect, fairy-tale like setting for Grimm. I am proud to say that I live in this lovely area.

There is a certain pattern in Grimm concerning the way it deals with fairy tales. If they are not very well known, Grimm likes to play it fast and loose. Sometimes there is siguiente to no connection to it, but sometimes the writers mostrar (accidentally?) a surprisingly understanding for them, which might point to them spending some time thinking about the fuente text, instead of just slapping a fitting quote into a story they already had in mind. If the fairy tale in pregunta is well known, the references are más obvious and deliberate. But then the writers tend to go for popular believes...

I think it’s time to break in the articulo section of this spot – and what better to start with than with having a close look at the episodes of Grimm? I’ll do five categories: Reference Rundown will be about references to the fuente text for the episode, German Gebrabbel about the (mis)use of the German language, Highs and Lows about what aspects of the episodes particular stuck out to me positive o negatively, The Grimmoire which contains thoughts about the en general, general arc, how the episode plays into it and some speculations and The Final Judgment about my rating of the episode.
