Every decision Ned made was idiotic starting with this one.
Robb marrying Talisa was beyond idiotic.
Joffrey offing Ned was sad but not a mistake. It was a strategic move that secured his place as king.

xElvenPiratex picked Catelyn Arresting Tyrion:
Lol...totally agree that pretty much everything Ned ever did was a mistake. Of course Jaime and Cersei's nasty little affair was idiotic and Rob marrying Talisa was ridiculous, but Catelyn kidnapping Tyrion was so stupid I couldn't believe it. I'm not saying I don't understand where she was coming from, but it was an incredibly stupid move and she handled the whole situation very badly.

These are all pretty bad mistakes, but Ned becoming hand of the King would be the most idiotic. Followed by Robb Marrying Talisa and Ned Rejecting Renly’s Plan.

I think what we can all agree to is that the Starks, whilst admirable, are idiots.

This is THE reason why the war started at first place and all shit went down. But I can't find this dislikable and hate him because he had a good reason behind this. He didn't want to see Myrcella, Tommen and Joffrey end up like Targaryen kids because that would be something that Robert would do to them if he found out the truth. Ned is not that kind of man, and you can't hate him for that. Sure he is the biggest fool in Westeros but he is good fool.
Also Robb effed up his life when he married Talisa.

SOOOO stupid!!!!!
Though I do think him never having become the hand of the king would have saved his family a lot of grief...and I don't know...maybe..their lives!

And Robb marrying and breaking an important vow at war time *facepalm* Horrible leadership strategy Robb!

ThornAngelic picked Catelyn Arresting Tyrion:
Mostly everything bad happened because Catlyn took Tyrion and it was Sansa who alerted Cersie not Ned....

Alerting Cercei as well, but it made no difference. This one was the big mistake.
