The origin of Western alchemy may generally be traced to Hellenistic Egypt. The Hellenistic city of Alexandria was a center of Greek alchemical knowledge, and retained its preeminence through most of the Greek and Roman periods. Here, elements of technology, religion, mythology, and Greek philosophy, each with their own much longer histories, combined to form the earliest known records of alchemy in the West. Zosimos of Panopolis wrote the oldest known libros on alchemy while Mary the Jewess is credited as being the first non-fictitious Western alchemist. They wrote in Greek and lived in Egypt under Roman rule.
Mythology – It is claimed por Zosimos of Panopolis that alchemy dated back to pharaonic Egypt where it was the domain of the priestly class; there is little o no evidence for such a claim though. Alchemical writers used Classical figures from Greek, Roman, and Egyptian mythology to illuminate their works and allegorize alchemical transmutation. These included the pantheon of gods related to the Classical planets, Isis, Osiris, Jason, and many others.
The central figure in the mythology of alchemy is Hermes Trismegistus (or Thrice-Great Hermes). His name is derived from the god Thoth and his Greek counterpart Hermes. Hermes and his caduceus o serpent-staff, were among alchemy's principal symbols. According to Clement of Alexandria, he wrote what were called the "forty-two libros of Hermes", covering all fields of knowledge. The Hermetica of Thrice-Great Hermes is generally understood to form the basis for Western alchemical philosophy and practice, called the hermetic philosophy por its early practitioners. These writings were collected in the first centuries of the common era.
Technology – The dawn of Western alchemy is sometimes associated with that of metallurgy, extending back to 3500 BCE. Many writings were lost when the emperor Diocletian ordered the burning of alchemical libros after suppressing a revolt in Alexandria (292 CE). Few original Egyptian documents on alchemy have survived, most notable among them the Stockholm papyrus and the Leyden papyrus X. Dating from 300 to 500 CE, they contained recipes for dyeing and making artificial gemstones, cleaning and fabricating pearls, and the manufacture of imitation oro and silver. These writings lack the mystical, philosophical elements of alchemy, but do contain the works of Bolus of Mendes (or Pseudo-Democritus) which aligned these recipes with theoretical knowledge of astrología and the Classical elements. Between the time of Bolus and Zosimos, the change took place that transformed this metallurgy into a Hermetic art.
Philosophy – Alexandria acted as a melting pot for philosophies of Pythagoreanism, Platonism, Stoicism and Gnosticism which formed the origin of alchemy’s character. An important example of alchemy’s roots in Greek philosophy, originated por Empedocles and developed por Aristotle, was that all things in the universe were formed from only four elements: earth, air, water, and fire. According to Aristotle, each element had a sphere to which it belonged and to which it would return if left undisturbed. The four elements of the Greek were mostly qualitative aspects of matter, not quantitative, as our modern elements are. "...True alchemy never regarded earth, air, water, and fuego as corporeal o chemical substances in the present-day sense of the word. The four elements are simply the primary, and most general, qualities por means of which the amorphous and purely quantitative substance of all bodies first reveals itself in differentiated form." Later alchemists extensively developed the mystical aspects of this concept.
Alchemy coexisted alongside emerging Christianity. Lactantius believed Hermes Trismegistus had prophesied its birth. Augustine (354–430 CE) later affirmed this, but also condemned Trismegistus for idolatry. Examples of Pagan, Christian, and Jewish alchemists can be found during this period.
Most of the Greco-Roman alchemists preceding Zosimos are known only por pseudonyms, such as Moses, Isis, Cleopatra, Democritus, and Ostanes. Others authors such as Komarios, and Chymes, we only know through fragments of text. After 400 CE, Greek alchemical writers occupied themselves solely in commenting on the works of these predecessors. por the middle of the seventh century alchemy was almost an entirely mystical discipline. It was at that time that Khalid Ibn Yazid sparked its migration from Alexandria to the Islamic world, facilitating the translation and preservation of Greek alchemical texts in the 8th and 9th centuries.
“y is it u feel the need 2 piss me off?” Bradley growls as he tries again 2 kill me and I nimbily avoid.
“well because I'm like u.” I reply, rolling under his siguiente slash.
“how so?!” he replies, stabbing straight down at me.
“imma lowlife.” I say simply as I grab the sword with my automail arm and mover out of the way. The thin layer of skin cuts and heals over quickly when I let go. “tho in ur case ur livin' the highlife.”
“u think i'm a lowlife?!” he tries again 2 slash me and this time I land on the sword with my automail leg and balance perfectly. He glares at me and moves...

“what way does a árbol fall?” I ask simply.
“what a stupid pregunta from a stupid child. A árbol falls down.” Bradley scowls.
“wrong...” I say, looking at him.
“WRONG?!”
“a árbol falls the direction it leans.” I reply evenly, un-phased. “u should have been más careful...of the direction u chose...it's a simple matter. 1 día u'll have 2 face the truth u've set 4 urself...the seeds u've planted will grow.” I turn and start 2 walk away, then turn bak and look at him. He seems befuddled. After all...we were just fighting. “will u b able 2 withstand the force they...

The final and most current chapter of this story of ours...and the 1 that's still unraveling.
We decided after making the Aquosea Stone that we would use it 2 help the Humunculi and Chimeras if it was possible...
Our plan was simple...we knew that Ed and Al were trying 2 kill them all..and 4 some we were 2 l8 2 stop them from being killed...but the stone aloud us 2 bring them bak so it didn't matter much either way....but having them alive made things a bit easier. When they were dead we simply had them rebuild around the Aquosea Stone instead of a Philosopher's Stone, and when they were alive...

After the fall of the Roman Empire, the focus of alchemical development moved to the Islamic World. Much más is known about Islamic alchemy because it was better documented: indeed, most of the earlier writings that have come down through the years were preserved as Arabic translations. The word alchemy itself was derived from the Arabic word الكيمياء al-kimia. The Islamic world was a melting pot for alchemy. Platonic and Aristotelian thought, which had already been somewhat appropriated into hermetical science, continued to be assimilated during the late 7th and early 8th centuries....

Take solace in rage
for fear is blinding
and hate is cruel and useless

These things make me wonder...
About the poisons I have within.
So many...all of which were listed

Rage for those who deserve death
tempt me and make me tense
and push me to the edge.

For those who have no excuses for what they do...
who feel life is disposable until it actually ends.
Then suddenly feel guilty for those they pushed to the end.

All the people who claim to amor life...
they forget a part, though...
they amor only some life...only THEIR life.

I take my solace from rage.

Fear only blinds...
so have no fear of predilection.
I...

this simple principle is something i've always believed, even on the other side. I am all in that I can comprehend things and kno things and I am 1 in that I am only a small part of a grander theme. I am all in that I kno this but I am only 1 tht does. All is everything from the rocks 2 the river, 2 u and I...and 1 is a single part in a massive thing...i suppose this could b call the segundo founding principle of alchemy. I found out I could use alchemy when I had gotten away and was sitting in a árbol crying...when I looked down there was a patch of flores beneath me...1 for every 1 of my tears...of...
