Is it true Ewan McGregor turned down the role of James Bond, and now regrets it?

I was just wondering, because I think he would be perfect for that role..

It was true he turned down the role, but I'm not sure if he regrets it. Thanks for your answer! I would have loved him as Bond too, to bad the turned it down. And he really was great in ángeles & Demons!
